I knew Landry wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but come on. I'd be comfortable giving him a one year deal (not big money though) and seeing what happens but if he's injured again this season then let him walk.

How would next season be any different for him than last season if he doesn't get his achilles repaired? I don't see how he could possibly get 100% healthy for next season by having a shaman wave a chicken feather over his heel. If we sign him instead of another starting calibre SS then I fear that we'll end up with a backup playing SS for most of the season. |

I hate how he won't get surgery. I wouldn't even give him a one year deal. Go after Branch or draft someone else.

Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
why is landry getting such grief? its his body and his NFL career. he is pursuing the options that he feels are best for him and his career.

Yes, it is his body and his career. And if he doesn't do what it takes to keep his body in optimal playing shape, he is free to pursue his career elsewhere.

Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
you are assuming you know whats best for his body. unless youre a doctor and have worked with landry, you dont know what youre talking about. unless landry is allergic to money, i think its safe to assume that landry IS doing what he and his doctors have told him is best for his body and career.

I'm just telling it like it is. He can make whatever health choices he wishes, but if he makes choices which restrict his performance, the team will certainly take note.

Carlos Rogers 2.0. He will go somewhere else, decide to get surgery, and dominate for a new team....

I know Landry has not performed well lately and his health is a question, but my paranoia leads me to the same conclusion that you have reached. Despite the negatives, I am reluctant to give up on the guy. I think we can do a short-term signing (one year) and see how it plays out. I say we keep him for 2012, provided we can get for the right price.

Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
Well, when one of the best doctors in the world (in this area) is giving you advice, it's probably best you take it. This makes 2 years in a row he's disregarded the advice, with last year failing with the route he decided to go.

Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
I believe surgery was recommended last year even.
More and more Landry appears to be a head case...obviously not in the "typical" thug way or narcissism ala TO for example. I suspect he's borderline in terms of IQ/mental handicap. Landry's utterly child-like behavior both on and off field, inability to learn even the most fundamental skills like tackling or taking the correct angle on a play, and his absurd fear of surgery are beyond unusual. I doubt he'll be in the league by 2013.

Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
I say let him walk. We cant afford to have our starting saftey sit out another year. Like parcels said " Football players play football". Get a guy that is a solid player in free agency, that can stay healthy and move on. I am starting to think Laron is a big sissy to scared to have surgury. Of course, I would never say that to him and hope he does not read this reply.
