Re: 2012 redskins

if we get trent back and sign/draft 1 guy, we'll be decent at OL, sign/draft 2 guys and we'll be good. (RG/RT). bouncing 3 of these "starters" back to depth (and dumping brown) would leave me pretty happy.

Just curious what people think about getting Stevie Johnson, if the Bills let him walk. I wouldn't mind seeing him along with Hank as our top WRs next season. McCardell would need to control his TD celebration antics, but I think this is minor compared to a diva like DJax.

He seems to suffer from the dropsies far too often for me.

what's the price? he's a good WR, but he's not blackmon or CJ, and I'd prefer a difference maker.

Did you see his second game against Revis? 8 catches and a td. Not many people put up those numbers on Revis. It looked even more impressive when you saw him create separation. He is certainly worth trying to sign but I doubt the Bills let him go.

Re: 2012 redskins

Ok, I saw this on another site (Boo) but it was fun to look at. Every year we get excited for the next year and when that year arrives we seem to get let down. So, in normal fashon let the excitement begin again... lol.

Redskins following Rams' template for rebuilding?
In an effort to take any sliver of factual information and twist it into something unrecognizable, I present to you irrefutable PROOF (!!!) that Mike Shanahan is copying Dick Vermeil's template to rebuilding the Rams.

Vermeil: Took over a team who had not had a winning season in the last 7 years
Shanahan: took over a team that had only two winning seasons in the last 7 years

Vermeil: took over a team that had 3 different head coaches in the last 7 years
Shanahan: took over a team that had 3 different coaches in the last 7 years

Records:
Rams:
Vermeil’s first year: 5-11
Vermeil’s second year: 4-12

Redskins:
Shanahan’s first year: 6-10
Shanahan’s second year: 5-11

Rankings-offense:
Rams
1995: 15th
1996: 27th
(Vermeil takes over)
1997: 21st
1998: 27th

Redskins
2008: 19th
2009: 22nd
(Shanahan takes over)
2010: 18th
2011: 16th

Rankings-defense:
Rams
1995: 12th
1996: 26th
(Vermeil takes over)
1997: 17th
1998: 10th

Redskins
2008: 4th
2009: 10th
(Shanahan takes over)
2010: 31st
2011: 13th

Number of starters brought in during their first three seasons
Vermeil: 9 starters on offense / 8 starters on defense
Shanahan: 8 starters on offense / 7 starters on defense (2 seasons so far)

Quarterbacks:
Vermeil: signed 13 year vet Steve Bono, only on the team for 1 year
Shanahan: signed 12 year vet Donovan McNabb, only on the team for 1 year

Vermeil: tried to make it work with Tony Banks; went in another direction in Year Three
Shanahan: tried to make it work with Rex Grossman; (???) in Year Three

Receivers:
Rams: only one WR was still on the team 2 years after Vermeil took over (Bruce)
Redskins: only one WR still on the team 2 years after Shanahan took over (Moss)

Draft:
Year One: Vermeil had 6 draft picks
Year One: Shanahan had 6 draft picks

Year One: Vermeil drafted a LT in the 1st round (Pace)
Year One: Shanahan drafted a LT in the 1st round (Williams)

Year Two: Vermeil drafted a DE in the 1st round (Winstrom)
Year Two: Shanahan drafted a DE in the 1st round (Kerrigan – converted to 3-4 OLB)

Year Three: Rams had the #6 pick in the draft – spent it on a WR (Holt)
Year Three: Redskins have the #6 pick in the draft – spent it on a (???)

Year in which they tried to get their franchise QB:
Vermeil: Year 3 (free agent, another team’s backup)
Shanahan: ???

Year in which they GOT their franchise QB:
Vermeil: Year 3 (backup who was already on the team)
Shanahan: ???

Get ready for the Super Bowl this upcoming season, gentlemen ...

If our quarterback wins the MVP this upcoming year, there is a good chance of being the 1999 Rams.

Of course, even if we get our Torry Holt in the draft, and already have our Orlando Pace and Grant Withstrom, I'm not sure where we are getting our Isaac Bruce, Marshall Faulk, or Kurt Warner from.

Wasn't that free agent back-up Trent Green? That he got from us? He was playing at a high level for the Rams before his injury ushered in the Kurt Warner era. Maybe we should get Flynn, draft a guy in rounds 1 or 2 and find a guy bagging groceries somewhere. My money is on the bagger

After watching the Eagles game, I think I missed that Tyler Polumbus played very well in the run and in the pass. We was on Babin for most of the game and did fairely well.

Re: 2012 redskins

I've been watching Ryan Kerrigan videos and man that kid is a baller. Great guy, Hard Worker. I'm so excited to see him continue to grow for the Redskins over the next few years. Props to Allen/Shanahan for the pick

Re: 2012 redskins

One advantage the Redskins will have is that Shanahan and his staff will be coaching the South squad in the senior bowl.

Re: 2012 redskins

I didn't know where to put this and I don't really feel like a new thread is necessary...

In honor of Moneyball, I decided to put up some numbers of the Skins OL and DBs (Maybe I'll throw in LBs).

Jamaal Brown
GP/GS 12/12 Holds 1 False Starts 2 Sacks allowed 9

Will Montgomery
16/16 Holds 1 FS 1 SA 2

Chris Chester
16/16 Holds 1 FS 0 SA 2

Maurice Hurt
8/8 Holds 2 FS 0 SA 2.5

Tyler Polumbus
5/4 Holds 1 FS 1 SA .5

Willie Smith
4/3 Holds 0 False Starts 0 Sacks Allowed 3

Trent Williams
10/10 H 4 FS 2 SA 3

Korey Lichtensteiger
GS/GP 5/5 H 0 FS 0 SA 0

Who Allowed the Most Sacks/Game?
Jamaal Brown and Willie Smith

Least sacks/game? Lichtensteiger

Most Holds/Game? Trent Silverback Williams

Least Holds/Game? Lichtensteiger

Most False Starts/Game? Tyler Polumbus & Trent Williams

Least FS/Game? Our boy Lichtensteiger, Again!

Where is our biggest OL problem? Tackle, for those that are suggesting that we need a new center or guard we need a new tackle and depth behind Guard and Center (I didn't put Erik Cook in nor Locklear, because I see no way that they are on this team next year, Cook actually would be the leader in false starts per game, barely, over trent and tyler)

Secondary

DHall
Targeted 94 Times Receptions allowed 63..Completion % 67 % (Cornerbacks: A Glance at the 2011 Numbers | ProFootballFocus.com )

Josh Wilson
T 92 RA 46 C% 50 (Josh Wilson: Under-Appreciated or Free Agent Signing Gone Wrong? | NBC4 Washington)

I couldn't find out Barnes, Westbrook, or Thompson. However in the article attached to DHall, is some of the best CB performances and a couple of those guys are FA to be..

Re: 2012 redskins

Kory L has a very small sample size compared to some of the others.

TW is our guy with the biggest upside.

Kory L and Chester are good to above average guards. TW is ranked slightly above those two. T and C are needs with RT being the biggest or sliding TW to RT if a better LT option is available. Just my opinion. C can be addressed in the middle rounds. T maybe a better piece to add in FA or an early pick.

You draft DeCastro as G,Slide Lichetensteiger to C, Smith to RT, now you got a hell of an OL. Montgomery and Hurt are your backup G's, draft another T in the 4th round. Williams, Chester/Monty, Lichentesnteiger, Decastro, Smith.
