Danny Boy game him a long term deal with the signing money he wanted - - and then Trotter went back to Philly for about a year and a half after the Skins cut him. Since he had Danny Boy's money in the bank and no longer had the leverage to get a big money deal anywhere else, he went back to Philly for MUCH less than they had offered him in the first place.

Wonder if that could happen again...? Presumably, Shanahan/Allen know of that history.

Well so far Bruce Allen has done a good job at not overpaying players. Even after they made the mistake to trade for McNabb, they restructured his deal so it would be easy to get rid of him.
