The Redskins need a safety like Alvin Walton who can hit and hit hard. Unfortunately, they don't make safeties like those anymore. What we see mostly today are the coverage safeties. Roy Williams, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, was the last feared safety because of his ability to knock a wide receiver into next week.

The problem with those safeties is the current rules. Walton, though I loved watching him play, would be on the weekly fine list and would routinely get 15 yd penalties if playing today.
