Smootsmack is correct.

The NFL rumor wire - - the back-channels - - are going nuts here.

And the Skins are right at the epicenter of the RUMORS. Note carefully, these are still RUMORS.

If things materilize as currently RUMORED, the return of Joe Gibbs from NASCAR to the NFL sidelines should seem "ordinary".

HOW-EVAH [/Stephen A. Smith] it is all still in the realm of RUMOR and not yet in the realm of REALITY.

Take a deep breath, everyone...

What do they expect it to cost us? Draft picks? Players? How many of each?

Only things that big would be Andrew Luck since everyone views him as unattainable or something off the wall like Joe Gibbs becoming the owner. Things like RG3 or Manning people can envision happening so they won't be huge on that level.

If a lot of people are talking about it the source is safe...

However, something public within 72 hours this time of year would have to mean a major coaching/front office change.

Gibbs for team president, parcels for gm, and Cowher for head coach? Lol

BHA:

Sorry...

The source(s) would not be safe.

By the way, I have heard exactly none of your "suggestions" on the rumor-wire at the moment.

But if you stay tuned, one or all of those rumors might come up sometime soon since there are some folks out there who are POSITIVE that Danny Boy has been in the shadows for too long and will have to do something shocking to get himself some camera time. [NOTE: I do NOT believe those folks have any basis for their rumors other than hitsory from 3 years ago - - but some folks are CERTAIN he is about to do something drastic...]

The reason I suggested "72 hours" is that the NFL really leans on owners and teams not to do anything BIG during the week that leads up to the Super Bowl. The league does not want "distractions" in the week leading up to THE GAME any more than coaches want "distractions" in the locker room.

Ergo, even if some kind of big news item is finalized sometime next week, the probability is that there will be a lid on it until sometime after the Super Bowl game buzz has died down.

So are you saying whatever happens would happen before this week is over or after the Super Bowl?

Rumors from three years ago?

The main ones were Cutler and Sanchez, and to a lesser degree Vick. I want none of that.

Or is this the principle of which the redskins will finally be willing to part with multiple draft picks to trade up for their guy. How I hope this is true

I believe what SC is trying to say is 3 years ago as in when Vinny was here and it was more of an anything goes, we'll deal with the ramifications later approach

I could live with that. We had a draft to build depth last year, and these players all were selected with a purpose. We are ready to throw away picks, because our franchise quarterback is the only way that were ever going to be talking about football instead of the offseason at this time of year.

A comparision to the cerrato years can't be a good thing. It's not just doing whatever it takes - its doing whatever it takes to get a veteran on the decline.
