Anyway, what has Green proven to show he'd be a good position coach. Just because he was a great DB doesn't make him a good coach.

Plus KM interned (essentially what Duce is doing now). They cut their teeth a bit
Green has great leadership skills and knows how to play the position, that's why.

Re: Coaching Changes

Speaking of Keenan, heard he might be out the door as well. And LaFleur might be reshifted within the staff.

Side note, ever since I left the worldwideleader it's been significantly tougher to get info. I might have to lean more heavily on some of my older sources

That's too bad that they are keeping LaFleur (though I am glad they'll be moving him away from the QBs). I really haven't been that impressed with him. None of our QBs have shown noticiable improvement and I felt he was mainly brought here because he was a good friend of Klye's. Does anyone have evidence to the contrary? Is there any tangible proof that LaFleur is any good as a coach?

Not really. And maybe he'll be gone as well. Who knows. I have some theories, but I'll wait to find out more first

Re: Coaching Changes

Kinda tough to coach up the likes of Grossman. He is what he is at this point in his career.

I completely agree. He didn't have a lot to work with, but it's like he didn't even try to turn lemons into lemonade here. I just feel like LaFleur was a bit outmatched for the role.

Re: Coaching Changes

With Grossman and Beck I think you'd be hard pressed to find any QB coach who wouldn't be outmatched for the role. Hard to make lemonade when you don't have any lemons.

Actually I think part of the problem is we do have lemons as quarterbacks! :cool-smil

Around the NFL, Mike Tice's nickname is "Meathead". No one who calls him that means it in any offensive sense; Tice takes no offense...

However, I would like to point out that having a "Meathead" as your team's offensive coordinator might not be the best way to go...

Re: Coaching Changes

Hall of Fame caliber players tend not to make good - - let alone great - - coaches. There are exceptions to be sure, but the percentages are small. In basketball Bill Russell and Billy Cunningham were exceptions.

In the NFL there have been more than a few Hall of Fame players who tried to make it in the coaching ranks with little if any success. These are off the top of my head so I am sure someone can come up with a more extensive list if they want to make the point:

Otto Graham
Bart Starr
Art Shell
Norm Van Brocklin
Forrest Gregg
Mike Singletary

MIke Ditka had success in Chicago but not so much in New Orleans...

Jury is still out on Mike Munchak...

Re: Coaching Changes

So, St. Louis radio reporting that Fisher may be announced as head coach of the Rams as early as Sunday.

This possibly puts Joe Philbin toward the top of the wish list for the Dolphins. And maybe he brings Matt Flynn with him to Miami, taking them out of the RGIII/RT race I presume
