Everyone keeps talking about drafting Blackmon, falling to #6. I'm all for drafting the guy but with his skill set and team centered mentality, I just don't see him falling to #6. I think St. Louis would be remiss not to take him at #2. I just don't see it happening as much as I would like it.

Personally I don't buy that Manning will force the Colts hand and prevent them from drafting Luck but we'll see. And I don't think Luck or RGIII are the only viable solutions at QB either.

Me either. Manning has no leverage whatsoever. He's under contract and really can't say shit about what the team does. All he could do is request a trade or be cut and that's about it. The team doesn't have to oblige him in any way, and really shouldn't if they were smart.

I know this...we're going to get a very good player at 6 or wherever we end up. The possibilities at 6 are loaded with studs. Seems like a pretty top-heavy draft. They real key to this draft is what happens with RGIII.

If Luck, RGIII and Blackmon are gone by the time the skins pick, I say trade down draft David DeCastro (beast G) and with the other pick a CB. Pick Foles in the 2nd. DeCastro is the type of guard this team needs, wonder why Stanford's is so good in the running game?

Knowing how the NFL works, Mike Shanahan is no doubt aware that he will likely be fired if the Redskins do not improve significantly in the win column next season. Now he faces the dilemma of the Coach/GM. As GM, he's building a team but he's not in a position where he can start a rookie QB because, as HC, he'll be fired if he has a poor season in 2012.

Basically, he messed up by not drafting his Franchise QB candidate before now. Now, the answer is probably going to be acquiring a good young QB with NFL experience or a stopgap veteran, either through FA or trade.

Shanahan is definitely scrambling to get a QB. We'll see what happens next.

Since all of our desired players in the first round will be picked by the time the skins pick at #6, I'm hoping management is smart enough to trade down and pick one of these 2 guys. Our OL would be transformed over night with either.

Jonathan Martin of Stanford Cardinal to enter NFL draft - ESPN

I'm not as high on Martin as I am with DeCastro.

I love DeCastro!! He's a stud, one of the best G to come out in long time. Martin is also an excellent T, as good as Kalil in my opinion. Stanford's OL controlled the running game and passing game against an excellent OKS team, those guys are hogs.

You bring up a great point. I never thought of it but you're right; Shannahan can't afford to draft a rookie QB and go 6 and 10 next year and expect to keep his job. So the impetus will be acquiring an experienced NFL QB (Matt Flynn). Based on this revelation I'm going to assume that Shannahan will go buck-wild in free agency this year to secure the best WR talent available (Desean Jackson/Vincent Jackson).

well, there's also bowe, wayne, wallace, colston (i believe)... plenty of WR talent this year.

and if barkley left we'd be in the perfect spot to get our QB too. things broke badly for us. oh well.

Completely disagree. Think of his first two offseasons- the first is an uncapped year with very little available as far as free agents, and a draft that had Sam Bradford and not much else for QB's. This past offseason was a labor stoppage and a draft that had some reaches at QB in the 1st round.

Sure it sucks that we have to wait until season 3 of Shanahan to get our potential franchise QB moving forward, but what good does it do to fire Shanahan if he's not a 10 win coach in his first year with his new (and likely rookie) QB?
