Wow. Theismann just re-tweeted me.

RT @Joe_Benson: @LeBatardShow No Source Insider Stugotz has got @Theismann7 fired up about this Manning to the Skins RUMOR/ don't c it

Stugotz reported it like it was breaking news, so Theismann reacted. I guess now he realizes it was just rumors and unlikely ones.

One thing about JoeyT that I like is he stays in touch with the fans.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search

Been pondering the situation and at first felt like a Flynn, trade-down to Tannehill would be a nice pickup. However, I'm starting to warm on this Manning thing. Been reading all the pros/cons and I think they could make it work. If you rank draft QB's like Luck (1), RGiii (1A), Tannehill, Foles, etc. then you'd have to say the FA's sort out something like this - Manning, Flynn, Orton, Rex or whoever (talking about those you wouldn't have to trade for).

Manning would definitely be the prize of FA with a Tannehill/Foles follow-up in the draft.

I'm beginning to think this might be a really good thing.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search

Well it looks like the interest I thought was lost on Orton is indeed back, after talking to a couple of people with the Redskins this morning. Still no interest in Flynn from what I'm told. But yes on Manning and Orton.

Manning/Orton and Tannehill/Cousins looking like currently the most likely combinations. With possibly another QB drafted later in the draft.

But it's still so early

Manning/Tannehill/Cousins is OK with me assuming Manning is at least 70%.

I'm still not so sure entirely what to believe on Manning. My understanding is they don't really intend to negotiate with Manning. They have a set "take it or leave" deal in mind (don't know what the terms are). And if he accepts great. If not, they move on.

Well, by the sound of it, it doesn't sound like they really HAVE to negotiate with Manning. After all, it sounds like he would be happy with an incentive laced contract as opposed to a lot of guaranteed money up front. If this happens to be true, I'm sure any GM would jump on that deal in a heartbeat. It would be a no-brainer to sign PM then.

I'm not totally sure of this, so I defer to CC. But I believe that incentive laden deals, particularly if the incentives are reasonably attainable, are potentially more damaging to your salary cap than regular deals

I really like this plan. Manning, Blackmon, Tannehill would be stellar.
