Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
What will the Browns do?
Cleveland Browns: Mike Holmgren must stick with Colt McCoy Quote:
1- Colts could shock everyone and take RGIII. 2- Vikes would be interested in RGIII. 3- Browns would be interested in RGIII. and to be honest the Rams would be idiots if they didn't look at RGIII to see if he might be better then Bradford. I mean if the Rams are truly in "rebuild" mode then why not start there with your new coaching staff? draft RGIII, keep Bradford, wait until closer to camp or the season and see if you can trade Bradford away for picks and players. If not then you have 2 decent QB's on the roster. |

Who is ridiculing you? Just because someone disagrees with you? Anything could happen, but the Rams probably wouldn't take RGIII unless they deal Bradford first, and the Vikes seem unlikely to go QB considering they have 2 young QBs they are already high on. |

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
I don't see why that extra Browns pick is so relevant. The redskins 2nd round pick is only like 15 picks after that 2nd Browns 1st rounder. Plus the Redskins have plenty of picks this year and a full compliment next year to trade up for RG3. They can match any Browns offer in one form or another. Almost every team has the picks it just comes down to how many you are willing to part with.

A good write up on RGIII.

If the Vikings do land RGIII would Redskins fans be interested in modest trade for Ponder?

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Sure why not? I didn't really like him in college and honestly don't ever see him as a franchise QB but serviceable. I still want Manning next year

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Yea....in a sense that he would compete for a starting spot vs Tannehill or whoever.....I'm not sold that Ponder is a solution to our problems but I'd rather have him in the stable than Grossman.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Yes, but not at anywhere near the inflated value they drafted him at. I would consider giving them a #2 pick for him assuming we have not already landed a QB of the future some other way.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
I would prefer Ponder to Sam Bradford. I thought Ponder displayed a better arm last year (maybe because of indoor home games?) than he did in college. He made all the throws. His problem was that he misread a lot of coverages as a rookie. Bradford's problems are more about physical limitation.

Bradford is plenty smart enough to get it, but he came into the league really smart, and he's struggled to overcome himself, not to mention his own offense. Ponder is far from a finished product, but he makes plays. Once he cuts the mistakes out, I think he'll be a very good pro starter. Ponder's problem is he's got to figure out a way to survive as a starter in this league even though the position prototype is shifting away from people who look like him. Bradford looks the part, but his obvious limitations always have me scratching my head as to how he got picked first overall ahead of Suh. Bradford needed a really strong offensive structure and system to be effective, and instead he got: the Rams.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
I wouldn't give up a 2nd for Ponder. Third yes. Nothing higher.
Frankly, I hope that both Cleveland and Minnesota are deeply, deeply committed to their young QB's. I doubt it - but I can hope.

Just heard on 980AM that the Panthers are "on the verge" of simply releasing Jimmy Clausen. Wow.

I'm not a big fan but picking him up for nothing seems like a no-brainer

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
He ended the season 3rd on their depth chart and he's due a $920K roster bonus in a few weeks. So.
