It is refreshing to see Tebow and rookie Cam Newton shut the mouths of all of those people that say a so-called "unconventional Qb" can not do well in the NFL. That the incredible NFL defenses will eat them alive. Pittsburgh defense looked lost.
Nobody thought Cam Newton would do as well as he did after going to a terrible Carolina team. I don't think anyone saw this coming. To see Cam Newton running plays from his college days and being productive. Then the former coach of Carolina Fox do the same thing with Tebow. Pittsburgh could not stop the old college Shotgun option play. Talented running Qb's can be successful if they are allowed to play to their strengths instead of forcing them to do what they can not.
I think the NFL FO's and the so-called experts need get off their ego trips and re-think how they judge talent. How many great QB's were tossed aside because they did not fit the Peyton Manning drop back passer mold? It is a shame.
Playing good defense and running the ball is not a lost art, especially in the playoffs. It will be very interesting to see the Pats vs. Broncos game. New England has no defense and weak running game. It will be interesting.

NFL FOs want drop back passers because thats what wins in the pros. When an unconventional (aka running) QB wins something they might reconsider but in the biggest copycat league of they all the FOs will stick with what they know works.

Well, Cam Newton also proved that he could play (and dominate) the "conventional" aspects of QB play. So, he was able to "conform" to "tradition". His passing was actually one of his strengths, but not many folks saw it, I guess.

I think that GMs have been fairly willing to take mobile QBs high, but the spread option was simply not being employed in those times.

But yeah, Tebow, might start a complete paradigm shift on how to utilize the running game to set up the pass. It's the "new play action", so to speak. Good ol' running plays will still be used, but in tandem with these plays that involve the QBs running the ball in draws and option plays. If Tebow can improve his accuracy some more and get more comfortable, the league better watch out. I mean, the Denver O in its current state already forced the Steelers to stack the box and be forced to employ one or no safeties over the top in order to try and stop them, but they got burnt(23 points in regulation against the Steelers is pretty good no matter how you put it).
