I don't t see the novelty and hope the coaching staff does not either.
Might want to check his numbers in Denver, he played well in '09 and '10 before Tebow-mania took over. And he wasn't traded to KC, they picked him up on waivers a few weeks after Cassel got hurt. He's not a franchise QB but he's a solid vet. We could do a lot worse, like Grossman/Beck.

Question is: why wasn't Grossman and Beck on waivers?

Orton was released because he was going to become a free agent at seasons end and the Broncos new he was not going to be resigned. The Redskins did not want to pick up Orton on waivers because he had a 8 million dollar contract for the season. So why would we sign him off waivers when he will be a free agent at the end of the season. We can get him for alot less now if we think he is better than Rex. I say they are even but Rex has more time in our offense which gives him the edge.

Guess we could bring back Gus Frerotte, or even better, we could bring Sonny down from the booth!

Re: Mike Lombardi Links Kyle Orton to the Redskins

The chatter at senior bowl huh?

Signing Orton doesn't make much sense as people have pointed out for various reasons

my reason is that signing a Kyle Orton, FA QB, that was available twice last year (offseason/then waiver wire) would be akin to admitting they made yet another mistake at the QB and that they essentially wasted a year with Rex Grossman for no good reason

I second this thought. Why sign K.Orton when he would spend the off season learning a new offense. Might as well resign Rex and draft a QB in the 2nd rd if we cannot draft RGIII. I know Grossman isnt the long time solution but at least he can run our offense until our Rookie gets a grasp on the offense. Orton may take care of the ball more but that doesnt mean he would produce more wins if he became our starter. Rather keep Rex until we have a better option.

Exactly. If Orton was our starter we're still a 5 win team.
