Re: Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag
Fred Davis is arguably our best receiver.

Re: Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag
I guess the question is, where does Fred Davis rank in the entire league? Top half? Top 10? Top 5? That's absurd to think he's not valued much to other teams but he means the world to "us".

Re: Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag
He ranks below Graham, Gronkowski, Gates, Vernon Davis, Hernandez, Witten and Gonzalez. After that, it's up for full debate.

this article has him at 17 and funny enough it has cooley at 14, but if you think davis is among the top ten tight ends in the nfl take a look at this list. this list seems to be pretty solid imo. and at best i would say fred falls in line right around 15, right with cooley. thats not saying he can't be more elite, but don't kid yourself thinking he is one of the top 5 te's in the nfl. and why would it be absurd for him to have way more value to us than another team like say the ravens, they could use a tight end but doubt they want/need davis anywhere near they way we do.

Re: Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag
He presents the biggest match-up problems, wouldn't say he's our best receiver though.

This, plus a little: FD is our ONLY playmaking receiver.

I know last year in 12 games his numbers were up there with Vernon Davis, Jerimichael Finley and Owen Daniels in 16 games. Davis career stats actually compare quite favorably to Jerimichael Finely. The trickier question is about talent level i.e. what would Davis numbers look like in a different situation? BTW: I'm scratching my head over this part: Quote:
