Plus, the guy has had it drilled in his head his whole life to seek the goal line with gusto. Then, that one time, he's supposed to automatically fight that conditioning? Obviously it can be done, as Brian Westbrook proved. But it is difficult.

That too. It's not easy to burst through a line at full speed, and then fall down at the 1 while making sure the ball doesn't break the plane, even in the event the Patriots defenders try to push you in (which I think they were preparing to do).
