Hint of sarcasm? yes-no?

Funny I can see him thinking the other way. Especially with Montana having spoken to him telling him how good MS is along with the OL being blocking better, and 3 really decent RB's who did very well in the second half of the season. I can see him saying if they take me and pick up 1 or top WR's from free agency, draft a young QB, pick up another WR, get some OL and fix the couple of holes they have on defense the Skins could go pretty far. I think he's pretty smart too to recognize a team that is on the verge of becoming great and might want to be apart of that.

No sarcasm, I was calling it like I see it. All it takes is watching the playoffs to see how far away the Skins are. Its like playoff teams are playing one game and the Skins something altogether different. You name about 6 things that need fixed just get get the team competitive, That's not a team on the verge. I just dont see him wanting to go with a team that is so far away. PM knows he has maybe 3 years left at best and needs to go to a team that is only a QB away from winning it all. He wants to win next year not in a few years after multiple holes get filled.

Would I like to see him in DC, yes I would. Do I think he will sign here, no I dont.

I think you make some fair points here. Honestly, the reason I have made all of these Manning comments is because of what I've heard here and in the media about this place being a possible destination (and not the typical "oh let's throw the Redskins name in there since this is a big time free agent").

I get the impression from some posts that people think all the Skins have to do is make an offer and he's here but unfortunately its a 2 way street and PM is gonna do what he feels is best for PM. I dont think PM is going to view the Redskins as the best choice for the final chapter of his career.

I do think he would help this team get better fast but I'm not sure he can get them to the playoffs.

Bingo, why would he come here?

I just don't see it as a good fit for either party that is just my opinion. I am NOT trying to get everyone pissed off I am just saying how I feel.

when you get down to it, his only other options are:

Minnesota (no cap room, no proven coach, no idea whats going to happen to the franchise over the next couple years)

Miami (brand new coach who has no credentials worth mentioning - hes not going there)

arizona (they honestly cant afford him)

san francisco (they claim to be committed to smith plus they are on the west coast which is not mannings preference)

houston (hardly any cap room, would build ill-will to fans by going to a division rival, and theyve gone on record saying theyre not interested)

manning is a better fit than most people realize. as others have pointed out, washington would attract manning for alot of reasons - we're a big market team on the east coast, which is where manning reportedly wants to play. manning is a competitor so the opportunity to play his brother twice a year will be a big plus for him (not the negative many say). weve got a solid coaching staff and a coach who has proven succcess. shanahan gave elway tons of freedom. the only reason he's developed a reputation for putting so much emphasis on his system is because he hasnt had a QB worth anything in recent years.

The only real competition i see is from the jets or from a team that would shock almost everyone...

new orleans. his dad played there. its in a dome. theyre a contender already. and they have been noteably uninterested in resigning brees. I wouldnt bet on Manning ending up there, but we shouldnt dismiss it. Its a natural fit and would seem to be the perfect place for manning to close out his career.

And you may very well be correct, but as I said before I am just going by what I have heard in the rumor mill. All my posts are based on the rumor that connects PM to the Redskins. I am not saying (and I hope no one does) that Manning to DC is guaranteed. Since there is a rumor that this is a possible destination for him, then I think it would be a good idea.

All of what I said aside. Our major problem was on offense is QB and WR. With top talent we could make the play offs. It would be nice to continue building the OL. On defense I feel we need a FS to give our CB better support. Otherwise I like our defense. I don't think they played as bad as people want to think they did.

3rd year is usually the charm in most teams that change their coaching staff. If not charm they make major strides. I'm excited for next year but we definitely need a QB and to not mortgage the future of this team for any one player.
