Many of you are probably thinking, "Why is this guy bringing up Flynn again? We have moved on from him!" Its not that I think Flynn is necessarily the answer to our QB problem, but I do think he is a viable option. He could be the answer, even the best option available.

The Examiner article seems to suggest that the Redskins have not moved off their opinion of Flynn since his exit from college. The story fruther observes that many NFL scouts now have a very different opinion of Flynn, but oh no, not the Redskins! The Redskins are not changing their dogmatic view of Flynn as an option for our QB starved team and fans.

This article just rubs me wrong. Of all the names mentioned as possible successors to Grossman, Flynn seems like one of the best and most logical options to me. But since the Redskins are unwilling to change their early/initial view of him, they will not likely consider him as a QB solution in 2012.

Leadership changes, but it seems that the Redskins get stuck with old ideas and just cant seem to move off them. Just like Manning, there is a lot of new info on Peyton, his injury, his prospects for rehab and recovery, and the effects of all that on his passing skills. But somehow, I get the impression that the Redskins still view him as a Super Bowl, franchise caliber QB. What about the new information? Shouldn't that matter to us? What about the empirical evidence that we have on Flynn? Surely that matters!

Evidently not, the Redskins seem to be still stuck in the "once established, never change mode" when it comes to player evaluation. Sorry for the rant, but the Redskins need to wake up, catch up with current thinking, stop being so D#&N dogmatic in their views of facts, and the impact those facts have on player performance. Skills erode; players get worse; some players get better with experience and instruction. WAKE UP!
I don't think the Skins are alone in doubting Flynn.

Or maybe there are reasons why he was a 7th round draft pick.

Would you have any concerns about giving him a big money contract based on little we've seen from him?

None whatsoever. He's had one brilliant game out of 3 or 4 total, so using my completely logical theory that means he's worth a 5 year, 100 mil contract with 50 mil signing bonus. Lock it up!

Smootsmack, has there been any mention of Ponder or Sanchez?

I can't imagine MIN is willing to give up on Ponder yet, but M n M just discussed the possibility of them drafting RG3. If MIN were to draft RG3, I would hope the Redskins would take a long look at Ponder.

I could see Sanchez leaving the Jets though, and while I've never been a huge fan of him, he's certainly shown he has talent at points in his career.

Ponder? Not that I've really heard

Sanchez? Yeah, for sure if Manning goes there.

Well, as to your first point, that's what I am talking about. Just because he was a 7th round pick out of college does not mean that he has not learned and improved. We have some empirical evidence that he can play in the NFL, and play effectively.

Second point, my thinking is that the market for him is more in line for a medium money contract. He has not earned a big money deal yet, which is part of the attraction in my mind. Why cant the Redskins take a player on the way up, instead of one on the way down (i.e. Peyton Manning).

Bottom line, I just fail to see the logic of ruling him out altogether as an option right now.

I agree that there's legitimate concerns about Flynn but I could care less about his draft status. Holding Flynn's draft status against him to me is like not dating a girl because she was chubby in High School.

Once chubby, always chubby

Actually, if she was chubby in high school chances are she'll be fat as hell when she gets older.
