Re: QB Apocalypse: The Seventh Sign

I anticipate that after the combine, Luck vs RGIII will intensify greatly...just my guess.

...btw I have no idea either way. And I don't think it should be important to us this draft anyway...trading up i.e. mortgaging the future, at this stage in the Shanahan regime is not in the franchise's best interest (though it is in Mike's best interest). For those fascinated with the principal-agent concept from business school/econ days, well this is how it applies to football.

Given our potential cap space and the availability of free agents in areas of need of offense (OG/WR) I don't think it is such a terrible thing to trade up.

This made me laugh "Don’t forget this is the clown that said he’d choose Gabbert over Newton."

And he had a serious man crush on JaMarcus Russell. Then again I remember him being high on Matt Ryan when a lot of people were more luke warm.

I guess the jury is still out on Gabbert too.

I seem to remember complaints like that about another prominent QB early in his career. I forget his name though. It was like Paton Tanning or something like that. Took him like 5 games before he got a win in the postseason.

1999 (0-1), 2000 (0-1), 2002 (0-1), 2003 (2-1), 2004 (1-1), 2005 (0-1), 2006 (4-0), 2007 (0-1), 2008 (0-1), 2009 (2-1), 2010 (0-1)

Point being don't be so quick to declare him a failure. If he was 30 something and still hadn't won a playoff game after multiple trips to the postseason then fine you would have a point but given he's in year 4, well it's like celebrating after ending the first quarter with a lead.

Also lets review who defeated Matt Ryan in the playoffs over the course of these last 4 years.

2011: Giants - Super Bowl Champs
2010: Packers - Super Bowl Champs
2008: Cardinals - Super Bowl Representative for the NFC

It's not like he's loosing to teams that are loosing a week later.

He's a choker in the playoffs. Took a colossal collapse by the Pats for him to get to his first super bowl.

He's no John Grady that's for sure.

Hall of Famer

Record-setting Rookie of the Year

Also:

McNair was a perennial playoff QB who was within 1 yard of being a SB Champion.

Cunningham led the 2nd most prolific offense in NFL history (1998 Vikings)

McNabb is probably going to the HOF at some point.....blah
