Anyhow, suppose he went to one of those other teams and suddenly Orton, Kolb, or Sanchez are on the market....who do you want?
Kolb. Although Orton is the (slightly) better player for 2012, I'd rather have Kolb.

If I were Manning I would handicap it:

1) Texans - Most Talented team with out a top 5 QB.
2) 49ers - Second most talented team with out a top 5 Qb.
3) Jets
4) Redskins
5) Seahawks
6) Dolphins
7) Cardinals

For Manning this has to be about winning another Championship, this is not about money or location. Manning has enough money. Manning is such a huge competitor, his brother has two rings. Peyton wants another.
Redskins have a ton of cap space and some good pieces in place. Skins have a chance. Small chance, but still a chance.

I agree wholeheartedly...although Skins and Jets could easily swap positions.

That would be stupid.
Hell no. I wouldn't even do that as straight player for player. If the Texans get manning and then try to trade Schaub his value goes down IMO.

Great. The Skins need to make this happen.

I will order my Manning 18 Jersey tomorrow, I promise.

Although, does anyone think that since his neck problems seem to have started with two Redskins hitting him (possibly in a "bounty" situation) that Manning might not want to come here?

That was my thought when I saw that replay on Monday...but then I remembered Peyton is the consummate professional and wont let something like that effect his decision.

So what is the point of waiting for free agency to start? We should just start signing everyone.

No, he's different because he's being released of his contract. The other free agents don't have their contracts officially expire until next week.

Ok that makes sense, thank you.

re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)

If we sign Manning I'll withhold judgement and feelings until after free agency and the draft. If we make the move to bring in PM and a Tannehill or Cousins then I think it's a solid football move. If we don't draft a QB of the future in the top 2 rounds then it's a dumb short sighted only move.

I'm still of the belief that he ends up in AZ or Miami and we make the move for RGIII.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

I think the primary plan is still to move up for RGIII, but the pressure is definitely on to make that deal happen soon. If they can't get it done PM is the fallback option.

re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)

1. At 4pm, sign Peyton Manning.
2. Trade for the #2 Pick and draft RGIII and let him learn from a master (he said he would be willing to sit behind Manning - of course he was talking about in Indy)
3. Use free agency to load up on help for Peyton. We have plenty of cap space.

We make a short term push with Peyton, and set up our future with RGIII. I think that, year one with Peyton, we win the NFC East.

re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)

No one wants Orton, Kolb, or Sanchez. It seems to me that our answer at QB HAS TO BE Manning, RGIII, Luck (if Colts were to take RGIII), or Tannehill. And actually, as I write this, I don't think Tannehill is an acceptable result.

Dang it. I seem to be like 5 pages behind since last night. You guys are moving. Any chance you all can take an hours break and let me catch up? lol.

Orton is not a whole lot better then Grossman. When mentioned I think Grossman2. Kolb just sucks which is why the Eagles let him get away. Sanchez I really don't want but of the 3 I'd take Sanchez in hopes he works out better in a WCO vs. Schottenheimers offense.

Skinsfan... you only give us Manning, RGIII, Luck, or Tannehill? Man you guys really must hate Flynn to not mention him and must really hate Weeden whom KS liked at the Senior bowl. There are other options, perhaps not the favorite, but there are other options.
