All the fans will get excited and then the chemistry won't be there and it will be a let down all over again. This isn't fantasy football.

Why can't we just draft Cousins and start him day one?
??? I'm confused, who has a bad neck?

3 specialists have said PM is 100% healed and can take a hit. There is no bad neck. You could argue a QB with nerve damage but it appears he is recovering well from that too as seen on the video. So what QB are you refering to with a bad neck that the Skins are supposedly interested in?

Was Demarcus Ware breathing down his neck? No. Everyone looks great when there's no pass rush. Oh..and how do you figure he's going to hold up with our shaky o-line? Sorry but I just can't invest in a 36 year old qb who sat out a year cause he had to have multiple neck procedures that sucked the life out of his arm. Too risky. Again, why can't we just go out and get our own guy? Build around him for the next 12-15 years...like all the other winning organizations do.

Lol, thats most of our $47 million in cap room right there. Put in at lest $15 for Manning (could be as high as $20). At least $8 or $9 for Garcon. $2 or $3 for Royal. And then make it around $9 or $10 for Grubbs.

*All numbers shown in millions.

OK, but the LT (you do mean TW right?) and TE are excellent players and if they have learned their lesson will be assets. I think if you take Gaffney, Hankerson, and Moss and add Wayne and Garcon it looks pretty damn good. O-line needs some help but that seems like something that could be addressed.

Plus, you can still play for the future by drafting a QB to learn behind Manning. I still think you go all out, trade picks for the ability to draft RGIII, sign Manning and free agents to improve now, and we are set for a long time.

Kind of a short sighted view don't you think, considering we have 8 draft picks and a ton of cap room to go along with Manning.

While I agree with not going after the short term fix according to Mike Jones the Redskins will basically tell Peyton that they'll be able to fix those problems through free agency and possibly the draft.

Quote:
The Redskins are expected to tell Manning of their plan to spend freely during free agency. With more than $40 million of cap space to work with, not only could Washington afford Manning, but the team also is expected to aggressively pursue an elite receiver – Vincent Jackson, Marques Colston and Pierre Garcon are expected targets – according to people familiar with the Redskins’ plans.

The Redskins also plan on bolstering their offensive line. They’re likely to add a right tackle this offseason, and could add a guard as well.

We better not get Colston or Garcon. Garcon can't be relied on to catch the ball and is rather unproven where as Colston is a rich mans Gaffney.

If we break the bank on a #1 wide receiver, get a legitimate one.

If we get Manning, why not make a play for Blackmon at #6?

[QUOTE=Dirtbag59;893348]While I agree with not going after the short term fix according to Mike Jones the Redskins will basically tell Peyton that they'll be able to fix those problems through free agency and possibly the draft.[/QUOTE

My POV comes from a thinking that signing PM is not a short term fix. It may be a short term fix to the QB position, but on the other hand if we get 4 or 5 solid years out of him then it really isn't that short as an average NFL career is 3 years.

Signing Peyton, gives us options in the draft. This is a deep draft and we can get some players out of this draft. We can grab a QB at some point ( by that I mean anywhere we please in the 1st to 7th round). We can trade back with our 6th pick and this would give the team more of a chance on hitting on some players. With more younger players we increase the chances of gaining quality players for this team.

Trading away the top picks in the next two drafts and 2 other picks for one guy who may be great, good, average, or just plain Ryan Leaf just doesn't seem really smart for a long term fix.
