How are the cards even considering PM being that they are nearly 17 million over the cap?

Levi Brown is 14.1 million (base salary) of that. Stewart Bradley more than $5 million. They've yet to restructure any veterans.

Getting under the cap with enough to sign Manning should be easy enough, but it should be a consideration of the Manning camp that the Cards likely can't use the FA market to get additional help.

Honestly, I'd take Tebow as a backup to Griffin. I think our offense could fit him well, possibly better than any other offense in the league because of the strong run game and constant play actions and rollouts on passing plays. I'd never want him to be our #1 option but as a backup and even a gimmick player with him and RG3 on the field...heck, Brandon Banks too, imagine that explosive trickery...double reverses with RG3, Tebow and Banks...who can all throw the ball! Ha...

I'd take Tebow over Grossman or Beck as our backup in a heartbeat. Emphasis on backup.

Yeah but we're not going to trade for a backup, which I am sure is what will happen to Tebow if Manning goes to Denver. Besides, he'll probably go to Jacksonville.

Tebow? The guy is a fullback, H-back, tight end, linebacker but not a quarterback. He has a dismal 46 % completion percentage. He's NOT a real quarterback.

Exactly. I'm saying we do not need him as a real QB.

If RG3 goes down, our first franchise QB in 20 years, maybe since Theismann if you don't consider Rypien a franchise QB...the season is over anyway. We won't have a replacement QB that can play at his level.

I'd rather lose having fun with Tebow than suffer through Rex again.

Plus Tebow is a HUGE distraction that our rookie QB, who's facing enough pressure as is, doesn't need. And when I say huge distraction I don't mean like Tebow going out of his way to get in front of the cameras but he does draw media attention like moths to a flame.

Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)

I can think of quite a few QB's - Henne, Orton, Hasselbeck (if Tenn. signs Manning) who would make a better #2 than Tebow.

Definitely not denying that. Just throwing out there, I'd be fine with Tebow...and it could be fun to watch him and RG3 on the field together.

Hey, it's the offseason on the Warpath. Sanity is on vacation.

Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)

Jacksonville makes the most sense for Tebow, but I'm not sure about Jacksonville. Yeah, Gabbert turned out to be a disaster (great call Allen/Shanahan), but do they want to replace a mediocre 1st-round pick with another?

They need to sell tickets to stay in town though, so if that's their objective more than winning games, they can go there. Tebow would certainly have the running game with MJD and if they keep their current NFL-worst WR corps...hey, they wouldn't have to upgrade that position with Tebow's 10 attempts a game coming in. They can focus on defense, which they'll need to do with Tebow running the offense.

I guess I could see Tebow on the Jags, but it wouldn't be any huge step forward for that team...they'll still be bad. Denver is a much better base than Jacksonville, so Tebow probably wouldn't "just win" with the Jags.

Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)

I was thinking that as big as the price was to get RG3, we could trade with Cleveland right now and get their three number 1's and a number two. Maybe even more, because they will be more than desperate if Miami does not get Manning. Then Flynn becomes a long shot. I am not suggesting we do it, I am just pointing out that right now, we probably could get more thatn we gave for it. So its really not that bad of a deal.
