Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
After a night to sleep on it, I'm definitely on board with this trade. The price was high, but that was because the Rams got what they wanted which was a bidding war between two teams that drove the price up. In the end if Cleveland got the deal and gave up what we did, yet were the team to beat for the next decade in the AFC North, would any of us give a shit what they gave up?
Do any of us give a shit what the Giants gave up to get Eli Manning? Sometimes you gotta take big risks to get big rewards. Shanny is hedging his future on this kid, something tells me they are going to do every possible thing to help him succeed. If RG3 becomes a Pro Bowl qb for the next decade and we're in the playoffs every year I doubt only but a select few people will care what we gave up. Also, has anyone bothered to watch tape of this kid, or read up on him? He seems like a safe prospect. He can make all the throws, he's got a good head on his shoulders, he adds another dimension with his ability to run, he's very smart, he had an excellent upbringing by military parents, he graduated from college in 3 years, etc. I really do think we're set up for the long run at qb with him. And if he turns out to be everything we ask of him than who cares what the compensation was?

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Seems to me we'd reached the point where we couldn't put off the QB thing any longer. Given that, I'm fine with doing whatever we had to do to get the best (or one of the best) available. Comparing this trade to others is hard because of the unique needs, competing interests, and talent available. Yes, it's a high price. But if you are starving, you pay a lot more for food than you do when you're full. That's life.
I am excited for RGIII, and I'm going to stop (or not start) with the "that pick of the skins turned into PLAYER X, the greatest player ever!" Hindsight is 20/20. They needed a QB and got the best they could--should they have gone with a bargain and a prayer here? Haven't we done that for years? Now let's go get some protection and some weapons for our new leader! And once again, Skins win the offseason! Let's hope this one works out.

I totally agree with this move. Our biggest gap in the entire organization is at QB and with this move we are guaranteed to get one to franchisee QB coming out of college. On paper we should be set at QB for the next 12 years. Now we utilize our other picks and free agency to strengthen up our next gaps at WR, OL, & CB.

Damn it, you figured out the Giants plan. They knew they could lose both the Skins and still get into the play-offs so they laid down for the Skins to hurt their draft position.

Winning cost us 2 first rounders and a second. Never thought about it like that until now. Now that's interesting and a shame almost

We got hosed. Huge overeach. Shanny and Bruce figure they will be gone in a year or two anyways, so who cares about losing the future first rounders is their thought process.
We need Brandon Marshall to salvage this already devastating offseason... |

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
The price was high, but I don't have a big problem with it. The market sets the price and there were other teams that would have ended up stepping up and paying the same thing, or something very close to it.
If you believe he's a rare talent that can elevate the franchise for the next decade, my thought on it all offseason has been go big or go home. I think the time was right to make this move. We have the cap room now to surround him with established talent, and Allen is crafty at wheeling and dealing in the draft to acquire more picks. RGIII will put butts in the seats, create buzz on and off the field, and he gives us a legit potential superstar QB for the first time in forever. |

I'm not unhappy with it at all. Just wish we had held onto our 2nd.
