This really isnt that much different than the Jay Cutler trade.
Cutler was an already proven QB. RG3 isn't.

Basic economics. Supply was low (there's only 1 RG3). Demand was high (multiple teams wanting to trade up to #2, the Browns specifically). That tells you the price is going to be high. People can compare the Chargers/Giants trade but in reality they do not compare because the Giants were in a one team competition. It's comparing apples to oranges.
