Word for word, that is exactly what I think just happened: they let him go, and didn't really have a plan.

Unless "have the best Redskins offense since the Norv days" counts as a plan.

The only plan I can see that would make sense in letting go the two best (in their prime at least) safeties on the roster is trying to get the youngest and healthiest players available.
It makes sense in the long term, but could send us backtracking this season.

Maybe they are taking a long term approach to rebuilding the defense, but it seems like the best way to win in 2012 and 2013 would be to support the gains they are getting on offense with a defense that is improved at all levels. And the results are more along the lines of trying to hold the status quo in the front seven while letting the secondary get obliterated.

Yeah, I'm with you, but looking to the future was the only thing I could draw from their current moves in the backfield.
I still think if this was their approach keeping either atogwe or preferably LaRon would have been a good idea.
Oh well, let's hope by draft time it's more clear.

C. griffin at FS? Though they've not used a high pick on Safety since LL, they at least have drafted late round safeties that made the roster goin back to Vinny days w/Doughty to Gomes last year.
