O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft

People keep talking about this Swartz kid from Cal. What about Willie Smith, a decent OT that we already have? The only thing about him is he hasn't played on the right side.

Depth. Willie is a defensive end turned OT. Could be great. Drafting a RT who has played that position and ready to play the position is glaring need. If he is good enough to start at that position then he should be drafted. Redskins have no depth on the OL and it's time all that changed. Two offensive lineman in rounds 3 and 4 and a safety in round 4 not necessarily in that order and we will have done good.

You cannot expect undrafted free agents to be ready to take over RT position in their second year. That's exactly how not to assimilate RG3 to the NFL. The reason he went undrafted is because he is a major project who needs alot of coaching, practice, etc before he can be depended on. Yes he did all right last year and got great experience but Massie and "the Swartz"(may the Schwartz be with you) are both still better players at even this point and have higher upsides to be full time starters in this league.
