knowing our opponents, before the schedule is released, make a prediction and shed your light upon it.

Re: Redskins 2012 Standings - Predictions

6-10 where we stand right now
that is without fletcher. i think griffin will have a slow start. i think our secondary needs work. i like our chances against these 5 teams, and i expect to at least split divisional games
Carolina Panthers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Cleveland Browns
Minnesota Vikings
St. Louis Rams

*edit
i think we will finish last in the division

Re: Redskins 2012 Standings - Predictions

Well seeing as though the offense will be much improved, then the average of 18 points a game from a year ago will be improved to. With the addition of RG3 or Andrew Luck, I can see this team putting up points. Roy Helu and Evan Royster can grind out yardage to compliment the offense. The defense will only get better. With or without London Fletcher, the Redskins defense will be capable of being not only a top ten defense, but in the third year of Haslett's 3-4 defense, they may be capable of limiting opponents to anywhere from 13-15 points per game.

I'm going to make a very bold prediction. I like our entire team, including special teams. This team has the potential to be just as good if not slightly worse than the 1983 and 1991 Washington Redskins. Graham Gano will make the pro bowl also.

At the end of the regular season, the Washington Redskins will have a win/loss record of 13-3.

I'll wait until after the draft when we have a set idea of what our roster will look like before I make predictions. I do think we should bring back the bold predictions thread this year though, even though half the predictions in there weren't bold lol.

Re: Redskins 2012 Standings - Predictions

If Griffin even HALFWAY works out, I think that's good for another 2-4 wins. I'm still thinking maybe 7-9 or 8-8. This year if we actually have some luck on our side (where another rookie doesn't go off or we have a fluke fumble bounce into the opponent's hands) I think we even have a shot at 10-6.

Remember, a lot of the games we lost were by truly stupid dumb luck. A stat I've quoted a couple of times is the amount of fumbles we actually recovered... we were history the worst of all time (since it started being recorded). Most teams hover around 50%, we were something like 20%. That's just terrible luck.

Terrible luck, or just old slow mediocre backups trying to recover the fumbles? I think maybe a combination of both.

Personally, I think it's still a bit too early for predictions. But whatever.

Still...how is this different from this thread?

Re: Redskins 2012 Standings - Predictions

I think this is a 6-8 win team. We still need to acquire depth and let a rookie QB get assimilated into the system along with his new targets. The following year, we can be much improved. I see our defense actually gettings worse while our offense gets a bit better.

I hope I'm wrong, and if things fall into place (Garcon [or Hank] is a real #1,RG3 comes along quicker than anticipated, defense gets better at hitting the QB, etc, then I could see us being very difficult to beat, but we're not there yet.
