"Too much" indicates that the money could be spent elsewhere on a younger more productive player. LF is a good roll model and player, however the league is the NFL (not for long) and at some point in the near future the skins are going to have to go in another direction. LF is not going to last forever, the team and it's followers will have to accept a new leader and go forward. Players get old, a team cannot set itself back by rewarding past performance, new leaders have to emerge. Please realize that the skins haven't been successful with him, how much difference has he made on the field in wins and losses.

Philosophically your example would apply to every other player on the team........

If there is one player on this roster that deserves to be "overpaid" it's Fletcher. The team has gotten younger over the last couple of years and needs solid veteran leadership from a player who still plays at a high level and is a model citizen off the field. I'd like to have a roster full of players like him.
