@hooskins, I don't think the words I use validate my opinion anymore than anyone elses, that's simply the way I write, and have always written since I've been on this site. But your response indicates that you understand, to some degree, what I was getting at, so why don't we talk content, instead of personal attacks and context. I mean this is a "football forum".
I understand your points to the nth degree, not just to some degree, my friend. I just think the way you "write" them makes you come off as a wanabee snob. That's all.

All that being said, I agree with your RG3 related points (running limited option, mentality, etc.).

If you understood fully you would have recognized that I was using certain words, not to come off as snobbish, or elitist, but to emphasise detail in my perspective without having to go into a lengthy diatribe. I was actually attemting to be more respectful of my fellow posters. Either way we haven't yet fully embarked on a 1984 scenario, so I'll use my expression however I deem fit, and this will be the last time I defend, and justify it, especially to someone who is trying to replace my thoughts, and words with his own.

thanks for getting back on topic though.

Re: RGIII Named Starter

IMO it seemed as though Shanny was simply saying they would look to take advantage of what RGIII brings to the field. I would not take what he said as that we Re definitely goin to use the option just that it is an option givin our qb's skill set. I tend to think we haven't seen coach make changes to our offense based on that because we have not had a qb that warranted such.

As far as the ability to read defenses that will take RGiii some time to get down and I don't think we have a qb on the roster that will be able to diagnose a defense better than RG III. I am not trying to get to excited but RG III's football IQ maybe higher than his skill set which could make for one hell of a scary player. If he stays healthy he could change the game. These next few years could be one hell of a rise for our team.

RGIII is pretty thin. Would you take the trade-off of increased heft/durability for less mobility?

No. He's going to dominate because of his speed. (and arm...and brain...)

He's gonna take some shots...inevitably. However, from the reel I've watched he does have strong pocket presence, which should only improve. Hopefully those shots are minimized dramatically.

Oline better step up bigtime...this is where Mike needs to work his magic.

He's 220, could probably put on 10 lbs of muscle without it changing his game any. I'm not really worried about it.

Re: RGIII Named Starter

i think its going to be big for him learning ways to avoid uneeded shots by sliding/getting to the ground or out of bounds

Re: RGIII Named Starter

The guy is a little on the smaller side but he has a solid frame and there are plenty of qb's in the nfl that are his size or smaller and they survive. I think we are questioning his durability because most of us can't stop thinking of him as Mike Vick. He isn't he is going to be his own man. Lets see how he plays the nfl game before we start worring about him getting injured.

Re: RGIII Named Starter

Getting injured is a legitimate concern for any QB.
And if the offense is gonna contain some designed QB runs he's gonna have to learn to get down.
For as much as Cam is praised for being a power runner and running over people, he's very situationally aware about when and where to fight for more yards or the get down.
Griffin is gonna have to learn when and how to slide/get down.
