That problem with #85 in New England was that he couldn't pick up the playbook. Maybe the terminology was confusing to him. But because of his not knowing the playbook, he was given limited opportunities last season in that offense. It's better for the Patriots to cut ties with him now.

That plus, he's behind all of these guys on their depth chart:

Welker
Branch
Lloyd
Edelman
Gaffney
Stallworth

They have no room for someone who can't give 100% or pick up the system.

While Plaxico is somewhat reliable, Edwards is a bust. For a top ten pick this guy has truly underachieved greatly.

According to the article the Pats were in talks with teams about a trade? If that is the case then I am sure some team will pick him up.

i believe another team will sign him but not because of that case. if any team was involved in a possible trade, wouldn't the pats have traded him for anything as opposed to cutting him for nothing?

Or possibly the team decided to wait for the Pats to release him, the way the Pats waited for us to release Gaffney.

Giants lineman David Diehl charged with DWI - NFL - SI.com

Correction on the Coughlin family thing. That's Snee.

They were trying to trade him, which isn't necessarily the same as they were in talks with teams
