Re: Most underrated Redskin
Cornelius Griffin definitely. How could he not start in the Pro Bowl. Springs is good, but he's been to the PB before. Harris was extremely solid at nickelback last season; he'll be an adequate replacement for Smoot until Rogers is ready.

To choose one player, I might go with Tom Tupa. Everyone makes hay about field position, and how important the defense will be. All Tupa did last year (despite a career high in attempts) was kick for a 44.1 yard average (3rd in the NFL, 1st in the NFC), and drop 30 punts inside the 20. With last year's offensive woes, he had to punt in some rough spots - this year, the offense shouuld improve, and so will his opportunities. Also, nobody picks the punter, so's I got's to give my love.

Re: Most underrated Redskin
I have to go with Griffin as well. I can't believe he didn't make it to the Pro Bowl last year. Another one is Salave'a. He's a great run stopper.
Robert Royal is another one. He gets no love from anyone. Everyone is always talking about upgrading at TE, but I think we're fine with Royal. |

Re: Most underrated Redskin
I think Brunell is the most underated player. He through some of the best deep ten yard balls that I have seen in a long time. Just because there was no receiver in the area was not his fault. If he gets in this year he will show use how he can heave the ball 15 yards if he is just given 15 seconds to get his arm cranked up. Ramsey better look sharp because Brunell will be waiting in the wind.

Re: Most underrated Redskin
I'd actually agree with him. Phillip Daniels is very underrated. The few times he WAS in the lineup, I always remember him making a big difference.
Before anyone says anything, he's underrated, not an overachiever like a lot of people on our defense.

Re: Most underrated Redskin
I think its a toss up between Harris, Warner, and Saleve'a on defense. All did great jobs with limited opportunities. Bowen would make the list, but for the second year in a row he sat out the majority of the season with an injury after a promising beginning.
On offense I'd go with Rock Cartwright, Ladell Betts, and James Thrash. |

Re: Most underrated Redskin
All I know about Phillip Daniels is that my buddy is a HUGE Bears fan. When we signed him my buddy told me that he would get some type of injury, and be out most of the season. Sure enough, Daniels played in 4 lousy games. Its his nature to be injured. How can someone who consistently underachiees be considered underrated?

Re: Most underrated Redskin
Im going to go out on a limb and say Sean Taylor. He is underrated on this website atleast. I see so many people complaining and saying to cut him and trade him because of legal issues or the contract hold out. He has more physical talent than perhaps any player in the NFL. Hes up there with instinct as well. He is stupid off of a football field but the guy can flat out play and he doesnt need the practice. Do you guys remember him in preseason? When they let him run free? He dominated, flat out dominated. Everyone thinks hes good but I still stay hes underrated more than anyone else.

Re: Most underrated Redskin
Remember when the Redskins dominated in the pre-season under Spurrier?
Lesson: Preseason means jack shit. Not that I'm saying Taylor doesn't have the instincts and physical abilities to be the top player in the NFL. I think that he is an amazing talent, last year he seemed to be just 1/4 of a step behind. I expect him to be really ready to pound some heads in this year. I also expect to see him Blitz more this year. I read an interview where Williams said that he thought in a year or two Taylor would be his best blitzer (this was during last season sometime.) I also think he'll get more picks.

Re: Most underrated Redskin
Yeah, I agree about Taylor being a physical freak. He doesn't look like he should be able to move the way he does in that body. To think most D-backs are a couple inches shorter and giving up 30 lbs. Yikes.
