Agreed with Dirtbag on Rec... Other horror:

The Descent
Martyrs
Inside
The Others
Jacob's Ladder
Paranormal Activity
Evil Dead 2
A Tale of Two Sisters
Dog Soldiers
Near Dark
The Woman
Eden Lake
Straw Dogs (1971)
Hellraiser
Event Horizon
28 Days Later
The Lost Boys
The Shining
A Serbian Film
May
High Tension
Psycho (1960)
Trick or Treat
The Thing (1982)
Rosemary's Baby
The Devil's Backbone
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
Session 9
Audition
Halloween (1978)
Last House on the Left (2009)
Orphan
Alien
Carrie
The Exorcist
Ginger Snaps
Black Christmas (1974)
The Children
Let Me In (I liked the British remake more than the original)
The Loved Ones (If anyone watches Hell on Wheels, check this one out- it stars the gal with the face tattoo in HoW)

A new one called V/H/S is bringing American horror back hard... I'd been thinking we've been losing ground to the French lately.

OK, I went overboard... but it's my favorite genre.

Wow I use to have respect for you but you honestly listed a movie in which a man has to rape his 6 year old son in. that is the type of shit movie that is ruining this genre. For the record I never watched that film but have heard awful things about it. nobody with a healthy mind would remotley find that film entertaining.

They need to come out with a sub genre for horror called Gore Porn so people like myself who want to be scared not grossed out will know to avoid that shit.

I don't think that completely a reason to disrespect someone. Bastard Out of Carolina has a rape scene where a man is raping a girl... Oh I dunno about 8 or 9. And the movie is actually really good, it came out in 1996. It has Jenna Malone, Ron Eldard, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Christina Ricci in it (among others). Its based off of a book though and not a horror film.

Usually films will say in their ratings if there's a rape scene in it which then gives you the option of going to see it or not. And while it may make us squirm and feel incredibly uncomfortable, I have no problem with it so long as no one was really hurt and it has a point within the storyline. Shock films are meant to do exactly that.

The Human Centipede, The Hills Have Eyes (remake. Which was crappy honestly), Hostel series, Saw series. I mean all these things have gratuitous violence/shock. Although Saw may be in a category of its own because the overarching storyline of the entire series is actually interesting.

edit: Oh yeah, and Oldboy. Wanna be shocked. Watch Oldboy. Koreans are crazy man. But its probably one of the best movies I've ever seen. With a twist!

Thank you Dynamite... I thought it was just me, alone with my unhealthy mind.

And I wonder what mredskins thinks of Irreversible. The hallway scene is much, much worse than the scene he's talking about. But there's no way to dispute the fact that Gaspar Noe is considered an adept film-maker by many.

And totally co-sign on Oldboy. I was pissed that there was going to be a remake, but I'm actually interested now that Spike Lee and Elizabeth Olsen are on board.

My friend keeps telling me to check that out, and it's been in my Netflix queue for awhile. I need to get on that.

Hmmm, happy to fail your scientifically measured correlation between a "healthy mind" and film taste. The fact you haven't even seen it yet precludes you from any type of judgment, whatsoever.

Please, go on... your moral high ground is a place I really aspire to climb.

(You also may want to re-assess your spoiler, which was obviously intentional. It's not your call to judge what should and shouldn't be left for movie viewers to know beforehand.)
