Re: 2012 Draft Pick (not RG3) Who'll Have Biggest Impact This Year
I'm actually going to say Kirk Cousins. There are plenty of rules in place to protect QBs in the NFL but the bottom line is most starting QBs don't make it through the entire season without getting hurt at some point. With Griffin's stature, only slightly more sturdy than Michael Vick, I'd expect him to get dinged and miss two games this year.
I'm counting on Cousins to beat out Grossman for the 2nd job, based mostly on the fact that Rex is a known commodity (a sucky one). He can come in and maybe win a game, or maybe blow it. Giving Cousins the backup role will further enhance his value as a trade chip, too, especially if he comes in relief of Griffin and wins us a game or two. Backup QB is an important position in the NFL, even if he only plays for 2 games, Cousins would be the most important player on the field during those 2 games. That and nobody else in the rookie class stands out to me as a big impact guy.
