Re: Chris Cooley Released

It's all on Davis now, I hope the kid has grown up from his falling asleep in the locker room, to his "joint ventures" with Williams, and acting as his own attorney. Huge risk releasing Cooley with the history of Davis' behavior. Cooley a lock for the Redskins 10 for 90 as well as the Redskins ring of fame. Thank you Chris Cooley for all the great plays!

Sad to see him go and very classy of him to address the media and the fans afterwards. Class act. Hopefully he rejoins the organization in some fashion soon.

Its tough to cut a fan favorite, there was never going to be a good time to cut Cooley. Period. Most people cant see that because they are a fan, but this is a business and Cooley was never going to be a part of this rebuilding process. When RG3 is ready in a couple of years to take this team to the next level, Cooley was not part of the plan. The same could be said for Santana Moss....if we could find a younger slot guy??? Who knows???

He is a class act, and one of my favorites, but its time to move forward.

The guy produced and that is the bottome line. RG III looks like the real deal, but isn't as stellar as the hype machine tried to make him out to be. It will be real interesting to see how both him and Luck do when the games are real and not just talent evaluations. I think they will be fine. I just hope Robert can find the long ball more oft than not.

Don't get my disappointment in seeing him go mixed with my understanding of the busines side of football and where this team is going. It is fully understandable as to why they cut him loose. I said as much a couple of days ago when you look at our cap penalty and how much we are paying TEs.

Re: Chris Cooley Released

I don't know why I waited until 2011 to purchase a Chris Cooley #47 Redskins jersey. I should have bought his jersey much sooner than that. Cooley was an exceptional talent. In 2004, Joe Gibbs was considering drafting Kellen Winslow II in the 1st round but choose Sean Taylor instead and drafted Cooley in the 3rd. Bill Parcells said Cooley was too small to play TE but Cooley proved a lot of GMs wrong with his strong play in the NFL and 2 pro bowl appearances. What a true Redskin. He's going to be miss. I wish him the absolute best if he ends up with any other team except Dallas.

The long ball will come as they develop better timing.

Cooley is a great Redskin and a wonderful human being...
Cutting him hurts, but all emotions aside, it was the right football (FO) move.
Now if we could just magically extricate ourselves from Jamal Browns contract we will finally be clear of the FO mess that was our past 10 years.

Re: Chris Cooley Released

Well now the 2 redskins i have grown to love are gone. CP and now Cooley. It is a very hard pill to swallow. I dont even want to buy a jersey for the fear that they will be released or traded the next week. Guess this is the way the new NFL is going. I am sure he could have contributed in some form or fashion and would have helped all these young TEs learn the position. I understand Shanny wants to take this team in a different direction but it is still disapointing as a diehard Redskin fan. I hope that Shanny does get this team to the promise land but i still question some of his moves. Now i just have Moss to root for as he is still one of my favorites but how long before he is cut? I guess its time to get some new favorites but i just love the old reliable ones. Anyways im done with my rant and HTTR and may we have great success in the future with or without my favorite players
