It was a dumb play on Morgan's part no doubt, and it's highly magnified by his timing. He is, however, one of our play makers on offense and will make plays all year.
Steven Jackson had an equally bone headed play in the second quarter. He though he scored a touchdown and spiked the ball in frustration, earning himself an unsportsmanlike penalty. He didn't smell the field the rest of the game. I doubt Fisher even considered cutting or benching him the next game, and I sure Shanahan has never considered benching or cutting Morgan as well.
