You call a guy with a 44-40 record excellent? The only reason the Cards even made the playoffs those years is because they play in the sucky NFC West. Put that same team in the NFC East or even the NFC South during those years and they finish last or next to last. That talent he had on that team, was already assembled prior to his arrival. It's not like he went out and built this team from scratch.

The thing about NFL playoffs and the Super Bowl is that the best team doesn't always win. It's the same with NCAA basketball. How often does the #1 ranked team after the season win the NCAA tournament? Not very often. How often does the best team in the NFL win the Super Bowl? Not very often. I know many of you can't grasp this concept, but it's the reality of it. A team that goes 16-0 is by in large a better team than one that walks into the playoffs at 9-7. Does this mean the better team is going to win? Nope. That's the beauty of it. It's a one game elimination and if the stars align, and the ball bounces your way, chances are you may end up winning that game. AGAIN, don't bother responding about how the best team does win the super bowl..and blah..blah...blah. Yeah, been down that road, heard it. Still doesn't make it true. What it does make them is Super Bowl champions. As a side note, the only professional sport you'll see the better team win it's championships more often than not are the NBA, MLB, and NHL. Anytime were you have a best out of X games type of series, the chances are in favor of the better team winning out more often than not.

Whisenhunt is a good coach but he's not great by any means. I do like what he's doing there though.

He's gonna be alright. He didn't take any heat after his team lost games last year because it was year one, no one expected wins and he was playing above rookie level. Eventually, if they keep losing, he'll get some blame even if he plays well and he'll tighten up his attitude. I'll bet he gets his demeanor right by the second half and they win a bunch of games.

Re: Around the NFL...Week 4 Style
I think anybody would. That's a given and the ultimate end goal. The fact that the 12th best team in the NFL can win the championship is what makes it so fun and the league so amazing.
