Re: Has Anyone Else Completely Lost Faith In The Media?
Quote:
Romney was at a fundraiser with GOP heavy hitters and was using the percentage of people in the US who don't pay Fed income tax. Was his statement fundamentally wrong for not taking into account folks on SS, Medicare, etc., yes. Was his point correct, that those who are receiving gov't aid without paying into the system unlikely to vote for someone who wants to scale back entitlements, yes. Here are Obama's exact words: "I think the trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some redistribution because I actually believe in redistribution, at least at a certain level to make sure that everybody's got a shot. How do we pool resources at the same time as we decentralize delivery systems in ways that both foster competition, can work in the marketplace, and can foster innovation at the local level and can be tailored to particular communities." There is no question Obama is speaking about redistribution of tax dollars from certain segments of the population to other segments in this quote, not making gov't more efficient. It appears you've bought the NBC, ABC, CBS (read media arms of the DNC) spin. If you think Obama's core principles have changed since he made this quote, you are dead-wrong.
