It seems to me he hasn't been targeted but that Keim and a couple other beat writers have said his blocking is more than adequate. Not sure what Cooley adds as a recieving threat or blocker that isn't better spent on Paul getting a full season under his belt at a new position.
yes on the dropsies - and i believe he had a really dumb penalty at a somewhat crucial moment yesterday - i forget rite now.

I don't know about the dropsies. According to the stats, he has been targeted 5 times and caught 4. The one incomplete pass was on 2nd and 11 in the 2nd Q of yesterday's game. I didn't see it so I don't know if it was a catchable ball. It was two plays before the missed 41 yard field goal.

I DID see his clutch catch for 30 yards, with a defender on him and the ball high.

Don't know about the penalty. Would Cooley have been targeted more? Been a better blocker? Certainly, he wasn't gonna be playing on special teams. I just don't see it.

People need to be fair about the drop though. Paul had to go up and got the ball with full extension, and as he was bringing it in, a DB smacked him pretty hard in the hands dislodging the ball. It wasnt like it hit him in his chest with no one near him. He probably should have caught it, but to make it out to be an easy catch as some are doing is far from the truth.

Niles Paul dropped a ball that hit him right in his mitts.

How many TEs are asked to return kicks. lol

I was irritated by the drops but I would most certainly continue to work with him because of what you stated and because I was confident in his ability to catch last year before the transition to TE. I think the drops will subside once he gets a little more integrated into the new position.
