Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
What about a poll on a more likely scenario? Please put up a poll on whether or not Jim Haslett should be fired. There should be some entertaining comments on that one.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
Haslett should get a pink slip right after the gun goes off of the 16th game. I have no idea how he's coaching in the NFL. If Greg Williams was coaching this defense we would not be this bad. Not saying I want him back or anything, just making a point. One guy can coach, scheme and mix things up. One guy can't and has a confused look on his face.

As far as offense is concerned I think a RT is the missing piece of the puzzle. If Davis and Garcon were healthy I could see us putting up 30 points a game easy. MS and KS have put together an amazing offense. Every time I watch a game the analysts always comment on how effective the fakes are at freezing linebackers and allowing RG3 to hit players on cross routes. MS said it would take 5 years. Give him 5 years. At the beginning of the season I thought a 7 - 9 record would be beyond expectations. |

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
If we beat Carolina, which I expect us to do, we will be 4-5 and pretty much where most (reasonable) people expected us to be at the bye. We were a defensive breakdown away from beating the Giants in their house and were in a dogfight with the unbeaten Falcons. Understanding moral victories are for the JV team, why is this even being seriously discussed this morning? Honestly, Shanahan is the 2nd most secure coach in the division, let's keep it moving.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
Ive never been a big Mike Shanahan fan, at least since hes been our head coach, but theres no way i would fire him right now.
Griffen has been beyond wildest dream expectations and the last thing i want to do is compromise anything by bringing in a new coaching regime. I think Griffen is so smart, so physically gifted and so skilled that a change wouldnt set him back much, if at all, but its still not a risk i would want to take. I also dont think Shanahan was ever intended to be the long term answer. I feel like Shanahan is really here to turn this team around with the intent to promote from within after he puts in his 5 or so years. After Tom Coughlin, i think Shanahan is tied with Belichick as being the oldest NFL coach. Once Coughlin and Belichick stop winning theyre not going to look for a new team to start coaching, theyre gonna retire (or maybe take on a Bill Parcels roll). We currently have Kyle, Haslett and Morris all prepping for the day Mike steps aside. Unfortunately besides Morris the thought of Kyle or Haslett taking over scares the shit out of me. I think Mike has to fire Hasslett, probably this season at the bye. Mike f'd up by switching to the 3-4 at the time he did but unfortunately for Haslett thats just life goes. In the meantime I would really like to see what Morris can do with our defense, especially if hes the shoe-in for d-coordinator next year.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
If Morris was a good enough candidate to be the next DC then he would be making chicken salad out of the secondary he has to work with. I say he goes too and get some fresh blood on the D side of things.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
This team lacks talent still and has a ton of injuries at the spots that are letting us down. No starting caliber Safties, no OLB or DE, no 1st WR or TE. The pass to Hankerson for the TD that he dropped would have been Garcon=TD, the pass to Paulson would have been Fredd Davis=completion. They are missing too many parts. If they loose a couple of O-Linemen, we won't win another game. As it is, they might get Garcon back after the bye and their starting Safety. Got to win against the Panthers, then come out of the bye 4-5 with the division ahead of us. With some healthy players they can beat the Boys and the Eagles.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
If we get a win going into the bye week I can see us finishing 7-9 or 8-8. I would consider either of those records a successful season.
