No there definitely will not be three rookie quarterbacks starting in the playoffs in 2013. Last year's class was ridiculous. Three quarterbacks that went undrafted from last year's class are on rosters, not to mention that every drafted QB except Weeden exceeded expectations.

I do think there will be three QBs picked in the first round who will by and large be successful in the league though. Three is a lot different from seven or eight though.

I don't think many people are putting Barkley at the top. He has arm strength issues. Definitely do not see him as a #1. But then again, this whole QB class is pretty weak.

Yeah. I've watched most of the prospects I'm going to watch, I've just been lazy about it.

I don't really see this as a weak QB class, at all. Geno Smith will go top ten this year, and would go top ten pretty much any year he came out. He's clearly a better prospect than Locker/Gabbert/Ponder/Mallet (I would have rated him above Newton as well, but I ended up being off on Newton). Barkley is probably going in the top ten as well. And if he goes seven/eight/nine, some team (likely one picking at the top) is going to maneuver and try to get Nassib in the 13-19 neighborhood of the first round.

So those three will go right away. My favorite of the "best of the rest" is Tyler Bray, but I think a draft day fall might actually work in his benefit. Bray was the first QB I studied, and my reaction right after was Bray was the best player -- player, not quarterback -- in the entire draft. I've backed off that position substantially, not because I've seen evidence to make me believe that's not the case, but because I was doing WAY too much justifying of a high grade on a player who is going to be a late riser, at best. Kind of like Kellen Moore last year. At this point, if you can get Bray late in the first round or early in the second, I would, but there's no reason to take him with a top ten pick: he doesn't have the intangibles the other three guys do (and he's really not mobile at all, in an era where mobility is so important to development of the QB), so the market for him won't be as fierce.

The rest of the class is mediocre. I like Sean Renfree (Duke), Zac Dysert (Miami) and Marquise Gray (Minnesota) as backup types with some trade value in the league down the road. I think EJ Manuel can be a system guy in the NFL, but he's not going to rise as sharply as some people think (late 2 or early 3 at best). I think Tyler Wilson and Sean Glennon are going to struggle, a lot. I still have no idea what on earth to think of Landry Jones. If Jones could demonstrate just one clear skill outside of his arm, he'd go high in this draft...I'm just not sure he has it. I think Collin Klein should probably play tight end, although you can make your case that backup quarterback-who-will-never-play is the single most coveted position in sports. I think Jordan Rodgers probably shouldn't be drafted.

I haven't yet seen Matt Scott play (I'm not sure I saw Arizona play at all last year), but I hear he's intriguing.

Last year you had the Heisman winner with a great arm and great intangibles, the QB who could have been a first round pick the past two years, and an underrated QB who was overlooked due to his height. This year you have a QB who could have been a top 10 pick last year but fell off badly and proving that he really was not that good, a QB who lost 5 straight games when he had Tavon Austin and Bailey as receivers, a QB who underachieved at FSU but is shooting up boards because of his "talent".

There is a huge difference between Geno Smith and RG3, and a huge difference between the quarterback classes.

You can put two of those five straight on geno for sure, but not the other three, wv had one of the worst defenses in the country last year, stedman was out during a lot of that stretch and there was no reliable third receiver and no reliable running game. I don't think geno is worthy of the number one overall, but I'm fairly certain hell be a solid qb in the league if he can get his mind right.

I agree their defense was terrible. But the comparison was Geno Smith to RG3... I do not think those QB's compare at all. If Geno was coming out last year he probably would not have been drafted in the top 10. That is the only point I am trying to make.

I agree that Griffin and Geno are similar and like you said Griff has better deep ball accuracy. I think their arm talent is close, Griff has a quicker release but Geno has more consistent mechanics.

But there is one important disctinction. Its an area where the 2 QBs are diametrically opposed: playmaking.

'Spontaneous Genius' as Bill Walsh called it and Griffin has is in spades. Where Geno's coached pushed him to be and wanted him to be more of playmaker, Griffin is a natural.

^ I have to disagree the total over all player RG3 was better than Geno comming out of college

Geno- 4.59 40 33.5 inch vert 10.3 ft broad jump
RG3- 4.41 40 39 inch vert 10

RG3 had a was a better talent and a stronger resume comming out of college. His record back him up. 78 td 17 ints plus RG3 was hurt for one year.

Geno had 98 td 20 int

I am a WVU fan, and have been for years. There is no way that you can compare Geno to RG III. He is not in the same relm as III. Yeah you can look at his numbers but he was rather pathetic this year and without Trayvon his numbers would have been much worse.

His numbers are a touch inflated due to the fact that on multiple occasions he threw a pass behind or at the LOS to Tayvon, and he took it 50,60,70 yrds to the house.

Plus Geno is not the athlete nor does he have the ball handing skills of III.

really cant complain. the WR outta Tennesse is a beast. Question is Honey Badger a CB in the NFL? 4th round is good value to give him a shot with the Skins.

I tend to agree -- I don't see us picking a WR early on. If Matt Elam (safety) from Florida is available, I could see that instead. Generally, I would imagine that the best safety available would likely be a priority, unless someone surprising fell into our laps that we thought would never get out of the first round.
