I understand not converting a 3rd and long on a high percentage, but it's the 3rd and shorts that we don't convert that simply drive me up the wall. Kyle often times likes to get cute with a 3rd and short only for it to backfire. I've seen several of those damn pitch plays on 3rd and short which chaps my ass.

In the end, more often or not if you aren't converting 3rd downs, you most likely are going to be on the losing end of a 60 minute match. So far, I think we've had some severe breaks go our way (fumble for TD, fumble not recovered in-bounds) which have been deciding factors in our winning. You can't expect luck that good to continue though so it's better we not rely on that luck.

I actually thought that we convert around 75% of 3rd and 5 or less, and it plummets to around 20% for 3rd and 6 and higher. I could have sworn I heard that somewhere.

Not sure of the breakdown actually. I think the penalties have a impact on why we end up on 3rd and long often. Which makes sense since we are one of the most penalized teams in the league. That isn't going to bode well for anybody.
