Curmudgeon, the problem I have (and I believe JoeRedskin and others as well) is that Dr. Z is saying "wow, what a great owner Jerry Jones is, stepping in to close the deal on a free agent and upping the offer to make sure the Cowboys get the guy"

Snyder does that as well, but when he does then all of a sudden he's just a meddlesome owner who doesn't know football.

OK I usually don't agree with Dr. Z and I really don't like peter King but I do like the Ferguson pick this year. Now your critizising the same writers that predicted last year that your team will reach the playoff just because they sign Gibbs and thought it would have the same effect Parcell had with D'Boyz hey even Snyder thought so otherwise he wouldn't had brought him in the first place.

Second those where the same guys who praised and declared the Portis deal as the best deal the skins have made and I do believe Portis was an excellent pick, and critizise the brunell pick not so much because of brunell but because of the amount of money they payed him. Wich we can agree is a lot for a BACKUP and posible in a future, a 3rd QB. We all know brunell will be gone at season ends if not earlier, that's money going to the toilet.

And again this are the same media guys who praised every year the free agent moves that Snyder did Sanders, B.Smith and on and on........ and said "this is the year that the Redskins are going to the playoff" and even sometimes said they were going to the superball some of them. Sorry if they changed their mind and they're are a little skeptical about Snyder and the Skins but can you blame them, they have to prove something first.

Now they're only saying that Finally Jones spend some money remember this is the same owner that last year with cap space and in need of a cb didn't went for 1 or drafted 1 because they thought a 4th rounder who isn't on the team anymore was a capable starter.

They're only saying that he finally went for the players he wanted and didn't wanted to get the cheap 1 or the leftovers wich was the strategy years before, hey we didn't pick Berry last year because he cost 2 mill more of a signing bonus than Wiley and we all know how that turn out. Now can this all backfire YES it can; Ferguson, Rivera, Henry and Bledsoe can all suck at the end but did the Boy'z did a good move of going for the players they wanted they did hey Bledsoe came cheap if he doesn't turn out right it won't hurt me as much as the Brunell deal.

Now I still don't get the Campbell draft trade you could have get him in the second round or maybe move a little closer in the second round didn't had to go to the first round 2 get him becasue after the trade that was before the draft everyone new they did it to get campbell and still no team tryed to move infront of you in the draft to get him.

That tells me nobody thought he was worth that high, hey even rodgers wen't untill the 24th spot 1 before campbell.

I'm not critizising the pick I do believe campbell its better than Rodgers (way overated) but I believe you pay to much for him.

I think the Campbell pick, while I like the guy, was a bad decesion. I personally don't like a coach playing the role of GM no matter who it is. I think coaches need to concentrate on player motivation and gameplanning, not contracts and scouting. Anyhow, I think Gibbs is still stuck in the era where you can sit a young QB on the bench and let him learn. However, money in today's NFL rarely allows for that. Unfortunately, Brunell and Gibbs are butt-buddies so I don't know if he'll cut him after this year or not. It seems like I could suit up every Sunday as long as I go to church with the right people...

Campbell is in DC to be the quarterback of the future. Unfortunately, it comes at the price of running Ramsey out of town. I have a feeling the next couple years are for Ramsey to up his trade value for his next contract. I like Campbell as a QB. He's mobile enough for defenses to plan for it, but he has an okay arm with good touch. Ramsey still hasn't been given a legitimate shot in Gibbs system and I truley question if he will ever get that shot. I don't know why Gibbs hates him so, but the way he was handcuffed last year made me livid. I really hope that Gibbs opens up that playbook, which looked updated in pre-season game 1 (thank god!) and really let Ramsey use his natural skills instead of trying to hammer the circle peg into the square hole.

We didn't have a second round pick. Our next wasn't until the fourth round, and Campbell would have been long gone. As far as no other team trying to snatch him up before the #25 pick, you'd have to say that there was a team within that section of the draft that needed a QB.

Well in all fairness, Gibbs has always stuck by his starters till the bitter end. He did the same thing with Jay Schroeder.

Yes he made a mistake in keeping Brunell for so long, but at the same time I think he wanted to show Brunell his loyalty by keeping him for as long as possible. Now, if he does the same with Ramsey.....lets say he pulls Ramsey after week 5 and we have a losing record, will your opinion change? What I'm trying to say is....I believe Gibbs will stick with Ramsey as long as possible....just like he did with Brunell. I certainly believe that Ramsey will be given his fair shot.

Daseal I liked your points but I have to agree with Redskins_P, Gibbs is old school like Parcell and he plays the guy he thinks will give him the best shot to win and he thought Brunell was that guy.

I believed that he based his Ramsey jugment on tapes and lack of game expirience and remmember Brunell was a high priced signed player you can't give that high contract and bonus and bench the guy on the 3rd game.

I believe he did it when he acknowledge things weren't going to change.

I heard that last year on the Monday Night game from Stuart Scott on ESPN. He apparently thought the only reason the Skins wore white jerseys was because Dallas likes their white jerseys. Actually, the Cowboys and Skins are two of the rare teams that wear white at home no matter who the visiting opponent is -- most every other team uses the primary color jersey at home. Which sucks, I actually prefer the Burgundy jerseys/white pants. I know that Marty Schottenheimer changed that tradition when he coached here. He said the Burgundy uniforms looked more imposing. That was the last time you'll ever see the Cowboys in their white jerseys at Washington.

not to get too sentimental, but i remember my football cards growing up, every time the players were in Darks was with the puke green turf of Dallas in the background.

I love how our two teams do that, makes it that much more special when we face off, only time it happens.

Marty screwed it up for us though, because in Madden, I have to switch to Away uniforms whenever i play a home game. of course they know Dallas keeps THEIR whites at home....i @#$% hate EA.

If I had my way, we'd ditch the burgundy pants and go white jerseys/white pants at away games, and burgandy jerseys/white pants at home -- except when the Cowboys are in town ... then, we'd go with the traditional white jerseys/burgundy pants -- but only for that game, you know, just to piss them off! Because from what I've heard, it is purely superstitious for Dallas -- they honestly feel they play better in their white jerseys.
