Overall Kyle has done a nice job but I still think he is too conservative with RG3. Last week was the most aggressive I've seen him call the game this year. Not as many wr screens and shorts passes.

Wr screens and short passes are important because they keep our defense off the field. Long, slow, methodical scoring drives, with the occasional deep pass to keep defenses honest. That's how we win.

Funny you say that, because I always thought that he always went for the deep throw on 3rd and short earlier in the season when we were terrible at converting 3rd downs. I must say it is nice to see our team making the big plays and I am glad that RG3 is connecting with his receivers on those deep throws. Although I wish I wouldn't have a heart attack anytime someone throws to Hank deep.

Any of them would be foolish to walk away anytime before this team gets its full compliment of draftpicks and capspace back. Do you smell what the Rock is cookin!?!

On a related topic, when is Hasletts contract up? Given the lack of talent he's had to work with, i think he's done an exceptional job with the defense this season. he's due for an extension.

Redskins gave Jim Haslett a contract extension | ProFootballTalk

Coach Haz was given an extension back in September. It is believed to run through the 2013 season. He was obviously in the last year of his contract before the 2012 season began.

I cant beleive i forgot all about the "Raheem Morris taking over playcalling duties" drama. Winning will do that do ya.

From my understanding 2013 is not a guaranteed contract year for Haz

Re: Are you buying into the Shanaplan?

There needs to be a 3rd option in the poll beside yes or no,like not quite yet.
If the Shanaplan was to suck so bad that would end up with RG3 then it was a great plan.Yes were on a nice winning streak but im not getting carried away.Im not quite ready to forget the Mcnabb fiasco and the way the whole thing was handled. The whole Haynesworth thing, switching to the 3-4 made no sense and pissed off your 100 million dollar player, those are 2 major f ckups im not ready to forget just because weve won a few games in a row.
The other little things that plagued Mike since he's been here like clock management and on field descisions like when to throw flag for instant replay, have improved slightly during win streak but not by much.
Theres been a few things ive had problems with but we won the games so they were rendered mute.
Then theres the leading the league in penalties,is that on the coach?
Im happy with the progress weve made and I think Mike and Kyle have improved over the winning streak but Im not ready to click on yes or no just yet

Let's not forget entering last year with John Beck/Rex Grossman as the starting QB. That one is going to take time to live down.

As bad as that was, it allowed us to suck enough to get the high 1st and 2nd from last year along with the 2013 and 2014 #1's that allowed us to pull off the trade to get RGIII. Some bad things things happen for a good reason.

Those negative things you point out were legitimate issues back then and Shanahan did f-up some those things himself. However if you look at the way the team is performing on the field now compared to the final year of Zorn or even the first year and half of Shanahan, the team has improved immensely. That is the most important thing that the team is playing well. Not those old past issues that we have since overcome. It was a journey we had to take to shed the losing ways and culture we had in DC. All that other shit is in the past. We have a fairly talented up and coming young team. That is Shanahan and Allen.
