It's supposed to be a 3-4 week recovery time, perhaps this week he can go with a sleeve vs the brace? Or maybe he'll just continue with the brace, I mean if he can run for 60 yards with it how much of an issue is it really?
Of course its a precaution but I believe its mostly to keep his mind off the thought of re injury. 90% mental 10% precaution. IMO

Did you see that hit he took in the Dallas game last week where he stayed down for a few seconds? He wasn't hurt but extremely nervous about getting up on his feet not sure what to expect. Once he got up he was fine and ran with a little more confidence the rest of the game. It's a mental thing more than anything at this point.

It looked to me like he stayed down because he fell right on the ball and got the wind knocked out of him a bit.

I thought he stayed down so he could hear the collective gasp, and following silence as 80000+ people held their breath till he stood up.

You guys need to notice the field in Green Bay this weekend. I guarantee it will look better than Fed-X field and its freezing up there.

Their field looked worse the FedEx. Not sure I get the need to have a pretty field after all it is football,

I thought GB's grass/heated/(some turf underneath) field looked 100x better than our painted dirt. I didn't see dirt clogs regularly coming off of players cleats in GB yesterday.

Couldn't they have re-sodded FedEx field after the Dallass game? Made play safer for everybody?

The injury might be a blessing in disguise, read what Griffin explain about what he learned from the injury.

Quote:
But Griffin said he thinks the injury has helped his game.

“It did show me things I can do to make the game easier for myself and easier on my body,” he said. “Ironically I’ve done a better job protecting myself since the injury, sliding to get down and getting all the yards I can. Sometimes things have to happen for you to really grasp that and it’s shown me a lot.

I'll say this, Snyder should be staying out of the football part of the redskins...but if there is anything someone above might need to step in on it's the health of RG3. They have to be smarter than that.

"He passed all the tests and all the functional things we do"...

I basically stopped right there.

The rest is just Andrews not wanting his name tied to this if god forbid he got hurt again. Shanahan probably shouldn't have brought his name into it from the start by saying he cleared him, but what else was he gonna say, that RG3 said he was ok and wanted to go back in so we let him? That would have been a bigger mess.

You probably shouldn't have stopped reading. That part you quoted is in reference to him playing now, not the situation back in the Baltimore game.

Basically, Shanahan said Andrews told him he was cleared to go back into the game, and Andrews said that is not true and that RGIII never allowed them to examine him.

Shanahan needs to be fined big time for this if true, and the fact he threw his high profile team doctor under a bus is pathetic.

Dr. James Andrews says he never cleared Robert Griffin III to go back into game after injury

Quote:
Shanahan said he let Griffin return with the blessing of James Andrews, the renowned orthopedic surgeon, who was on the sideline.

Andrews, however, told USA TODAY Sports on Saturday that he never cleared Griffin to go back into the game, because he never even examined him.

"(Griffin) didn't even let us look at him," Andrews said. "He came off the field, walked through the sidelines, circled back through the players, and took off back to the field. It wasn't our opinion.

"We didn't even get to touch him or talk to him. Scared the hell out of me."

Yet when asked by reporters, Shanahan described a conversation with Andrews this way:

"He's on the sidelines with Dr. Andrews. He had a chance to look at him and he said he could go back in," Shanahan said Dec. 10. "(I said) 'Hey, Dr. Andrews, can Robert go back in?'

'Yeah, he can go back in.'

'Robert, go back in.'

"That was it," Shanahan said.

Only that's not the way it happened, Andrews said. What's more, Andrews remains worried about Griffin's health as the Redskins play the Seattle Seahawks in an NFC wild card game at FedEx Field today.
Quote:
"I'm the one that shut him down that day, finally," Andrews said. "I've been a nervous wreck letting him come back as quick as he has. He's doing a lot better this week, but he's still recovering and I'm holding my breath because of it.

"He passed all the tests and all the functional things we do, but it's been a trying moment for me, to be honest with you."

Yeah I got that quite clearly, thanks.

I guess what I'm saying what's the worry now? Odd timing for this story to come out.

Trying to get some pub for his new book perhaps?

Probably because nobody has asked him until now? In fact, has there been any interviews or questions with Dr. Andrews until now? If not, that's why this is coming out now. I'd be doing the same thing if I were Dr. Andrews. It's his professional career at stake here, and having some coach claim you ok'd a player to return when you didn't is a definite faux pas.
