First of all, highlight reels ALWAYS make players look good.
I don't get this move at all. The argument that it had to be a good trade, because the front office THINKS or HOPES he can be a starter, just doesn't wash. It was a good move for the Saints, because they give up a 3rd round pick for a second round pick. Simple math tells you they got the better deal. I already said this in another thread, but the only way I could understand a move like this would be to aquire a player in a position of desperate need -- like defensive line. Tight end is not a position of desperate need. Guys like Rasby, Sellers, Koslowski, Royal and Leonard Stephens are all players who can contribute in Gibbs' scheme which doesn't require great pass catchers -- just great blockers. I would even be more comfortable with the possibilities of an undrafted free agent. Someone should get a poll going on this one. If so, count me in the crowd that says this was a stupid move. |
