Please understand I'm not hating but this isn't right,6-8 months, maybe for you and me to be able to be normal again but for a football player ,a QB,and for someone who has already had this done one time before,12 to 14 months. No I'm not a dotor but I did have the surgery and I admit I'm no superman but no matter what the knee will never be the same again.

I have read on WaPo that 6-8 months is the LCL rehabilitation period, but that by no means it is ready to perform at elite athletic standards.

But seriously...the overt damage control that's been coming out of Redskinsland is incredible.

It went from, "it could be the old damage" to "partial tears" to "torn lcl" to "total reconstruction". Now they're skimping on the time this injury normally takes to heal to make it seem less severe. And what? Set the stage to potentially rush him back?

They were scared shitless to come out and say it right after the game, but they sure as hell knew all along. We all saw his knee bend to the ground like a slinky on gameday.

This was a colossal mistake by the coach and by the organization. It looks like the famous doctor Andrews is just another Smithers.

They should "man up" like Griffin was trying to do by going back in and admit they gambled a ten year window for a playoff game and lost, big time.

It brings up all the old feelings that this franchise suffers from a real lack of character under Snyder.

The Jenkins WaPo article sums it up for me perfectly.

Oh well, right?

Get well Robert.

What I don't get is what they thought would happen next week anyway? He was clearly affected from the end of the 1st quarter, no way he was going to be able to play another 3 games.

All the best with the surgery RG3; for what its worth an injury like that in AFL would be a 10 month lay-off at best; at worst who knows

Hopefully our young OL works very hard in the off season . It would seem to be a focus in F/A and draft to bring in one more guy into the competition . Hope we do not rush RG's return ,maybe start KC the first 4-6 games and see how that goes ? Good luck Mr. Griffen .

I still wouldn't be surprised if they just shut him down for 2013. Even if he's "ready". The PR the Redskins front office takes on this is colossal. At this point, I wouldn't read anything into a 6-8 month time frame.

He'll be ready when he's ready.

He will likely start the season on the PUP list.

Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...

Here's a question: did RG's first ACL surgery (while he was in college) not really get the job done? Is it possible that the surgery was inadequate, and that subsequently led to a weakening of the knee which may have exacerbated the LCL injury? If that's the case, then perhaps a well done surgery this offseason will strengthen his knee to the point that it was stronger than it was his rookie year?

To me we need to lock up Kyle ASAP. Esp if Kirk starts for awhile. Kirks best chance is with Kyle calling the shots. Can't have a new OC right now. That should be our number one priority IMO

The torn ACL was diagnosed late Tuesday as a complete tear of the patella graft that was used to repair Griffin's torn ACL suffered at Baylor in 2009. A team source said Andrews likely will use a patella graft from Griffin's left knee to repair the most recent tear.
Griffin's recovery is projected at six to eight months, barring any setbacks, sources said. The rehabilitation plan will focus primarily on strengthening Griffin's quadriceps to help protect and help stabilize the knee, according to sources. The reconstruction of the LCL is considered a complication, but sources said Andrews informed the Redskins it should rehab well during the same six-to-eight month time frame as the ACL injury.
Under this projected time frame of surgery, recovery and rehab, Griffin should be able to participate at some level during training camp in August and be ready to open the season in September, according to the sources.
