It may be 4 weeks after he injured his LCL but He really only had a week and a half to rest it. Since then he has been back running on the same knee before it had a chance to properly heal. Because of the of the nature of a sprain (some tearing of the ligament) it made him more susceptible having his knee give out on him.
My point is waiting a week and a half then playing football on a recovering knee is not equal to 4 weeks of rest.
