'Course wiki say he's partner in a New Orleans energy investment firm. So not too shabby as well.

Bill Barnwell on the weekend's divisional games - Grantland

Great read. I think many of you need to read this.

It's not a great read at all. It's drivel from a manning apologist, glossing over the fact that manning turned the ball over 3 times. he criticizes other broncos for letting manning down bysaying if they had done their jobs, the game would have been won before overtime so mannings last pick never should have happened. And he says this:

Quote:
If the Broncos get the sort of defensive/special teams miracle they seemed to get last year in overtime games with Tim Tebow, the Broncos almost surely win
the broncos special teams scored 2 touchdowns in regulation!!! what more do you want? If the broncos special teams had not given the team 14 miracle points, the broncos would have LOST in regulation.

And then theres this:

Quote:
If Jacoby Jones delivers on his dismal postseason reputation from a year ago and drops the game-tying touchdown pass, the Broncos almost surely win
He's arguing the Broncos should have won by criticizing the fact that one of the Ravens players made a good play.

The only reason to recommend that anyone read that article is if you want them to get stupider. And yes, i know stupider is not a word; however, it seems fitting to use in reference to that POS article.

That entire game was not on Manning's shoulders, he definitively has his share of the blame but the majority of the blame should go on John Fox and that Defense, and then Manning. Like I said before, he did not put his team in the best situation to win the game, but he did not lose it by himself.

No one said he lost it by himself, but its not like the players around him let Manning down. Some broncos played exceptionally. Others didnt. If i had to put Manning in either category, he'd definitely go in the later. You arent helping your team win a playoff game when you turn the ball over three times.

I will agree with that. Elite Regular Season Quarterback, mediocre post season quarterback.

Manning's career post season QB rating: 86

Brady's career post season QB rating: 86

So you mean that WR who let the ball deflect off his hands for a INT/TD didn't let Manning down? You mean a defense that was ranked #2 in the NFL (#4 in PPG defense) gave up 31 points to a shitty Ravens offense didn't let Manning down? It's obvious you didn't even bother watching the game, but decided to add your Goat commentary.

Some of you have you head buried in the sand. This is like when Brett Favre got blamed for that loss against the Saints for his INT, but yet Adrian Peterson fumbled the ball 3 times (twice within the 5 yard line). BRETT CHOKE!!....lol Amazing how illogical some people can be.

1) If you watch the play where he threw a pick, the DB had a hand on the ball, the receiver did not drop it, you would have more of an argument saying it was pass interference then it was a dropped pass. The receiver had little chance of catching that ball with how he was being covered.

2) 2 of those drives started around midfield or better because of Manning turnovers, that is at least 6 points Manning gave the Ravens due to his turnovers.

3) Again, did Manning deserve all the blame for the game? No. The better question is whether he put his team in the best position to win the game, and in my opinion he did not.

Speaking of Brett Favre who did Manning tie for the most playoff loses of all time? Another stat sheet lover, Favre.

The two dumbass DBs that forgot that Jacoby Jones has blazing speed and let him get by them definitely let Manning down.

Its amazing that you can say such stupid and unfactual things while accusing others of having their heads in the sand.

The Raven's offense was 10th in the NFL in points scored, averaging 25 points per game. I wouldnt call that "sh!tty." I actually watched the entire game and it was probably the most exciting playoff game i've seen in recent memory. you can criticizie the broncos defense all you want, but its offense (with manning as its quarterback) is what lost this game. The Broncos offense ranked 2nd in the NFL in points this year, averaging over 30 points per game. Yet Manning only lead 3 scoring drives (for 21 points) in 5 quarters of football against the NFLs 17th ranked defense. You shrug away one of Mannings interceptions of not being his fault because the ball was tipped - well, that happens to every NFL quarterback. Ultimately, Manning made the decision to throw a tippable ball, so thats why that INT was his fault. The fumble and 2nd INT in overtime were inexcusable.

I'm not saying that Manning is not a great quarterback. He is - but he, like many other broncos players - had a sub-par game against the Ravens. In a passing league, the quarterback is the most important player on a team. Manning is the clear MVP on the team (and arguably in the entire league), so its logical that his play - whether good or bad - has more of an impact on a game's outcome than any of the other players on the team.

Mannings play wasnt the only reason the Bronco's lost the game, but it was the biggest reason.
