Re: Republicans rally against 'war on religious freedom'
Maybe math isn't yours area of expertise, but I count 8 people as sponsors, including a Senator.
Representatives Thorpe, Borrelli, Seel, Shope, Smith: Dial, Livingston, Senator Crandell. Here's the Bill. I didn't use the word 'god' when I swore my oath of allegiance, but then this is California. |

I have no idea why you took an oath or what you said, so im guessing here..... but when swearing i believe its implicit that you are swearing to God or at least to a sacred idol, even if God or that idol isnt mentioned. But if you or a bunch of hs kids are uncomfortable with swearing to God or a god, you are all in good company because God forbids it, as is written in the Book of Mathew. What is the Difference between "Swear" and "Affirm" in an Oath? - mobile wiseGEEK With that said, it appears all athiests and none pagans are being attacked by Arizona Republicans.

Re: Republicans rally against 'war on religious freedom'
They should at least push back..... WWJD? Maybe if they were moneylenders? I particularly enjoyed the naivete of the following statements: The challenge, then, at once simple and substantial, is to promote the peaceful messages at the heart of the world’s major faiths, while neutralising perversions of the core teachings. And: Given Christianity’s evolution, there are grounds for thinking that Islam may change, too. ![]() |

Re: Republicans rally against 'war on religious freedom'
More than just a couple representing the GOP that are nutjobs.
Fetus Would Be Rape Evidence as Republicans Push Abortion Bills - Bloomberg My suggestion is to the GOPers would do not want to be associated with people like this, than stop voting for people like this. Either that or simply disassociate them with the GOP party and disown them. Until you do, the GOP won't be winning shit in the near future. (unless of course they cheat their way in)

Re: Republicans rally against 'war on religious freedom'
Just curious, what if it had said Muhammad's teachings. I know it's a hypothetical question, but would that have been seen as less offensive? I am with FD on this one, and don't think either really is appropriate for a public transit system.

If there is any confusion on this issue, I recommend John Esposito's book <Islam: The Straight Path>, or Karen Armstrong's biography of Muhammad.
