Not sure why you pointed out this instance because he was actually right for doing this. It's very very rare when Mark Cuban agrees with David Stern, but even he agreed with it. Simply said that the TV deals are their cash cows and you cannot pull star players on games when their game is being televised nationally. He didn't have a problem with them resting, just not on a night when it was televised.

The main reason why Cuban agreed is because television revenue is the NBA's biggest customer, so keeping them happy is in the best interest of the league.

Even while backing the league, Cuban never denied the Mavericks wouldn't do the same thing as San Antonio did (and has done in the past). Even joking the NBA would fine him ten times more than the $250,000 it fined the Spurs.
