I was thinking that this is one way to somewhat circumvent the cap penalty, but was a perceived negative in ways the redskins did things in the past - pushing cap money to later years by converting salaries to guaranteed money up front. The biggest risk is the player(s) being cut early in the contract and increasing the redskins dead cap money.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but I'm pretty sure Rich Tandler is saying that the Redskins "could" save money in these ways that he is ''suggesting''. I don't read this as this is going to happen.
