possible cut?

No way they cut Orakpo but I could see a trade.

With Wilson it could be an extension, a cut, or a trade (not sure what trade value he has if any tho).

Redskins would have no pass rush without Orakpo, see last year for a prime example. I do not even think Orakpo is elite, but he is definitely the best defensive player on the Skins (used to be Fletcher but I think time has finally caught up to him).

I don't disagree with you, but if he's really the best D player on the Skins why not extend him like Matty suggested? Coming off the injury and a missed season, Skins would definitely have some leverage. Plus it could save us $2M-$3M on this year's cap.

They could wait and see and let him play out his contract year (with the motivation that comes with it). But if he's lights out he will cost a fortune next year. And if he busts we're left with nothing.

If Skins are sitting on this fence and another team offers some real value, don't we have to seriously consider?

It depends what the Redskins could get in return, I agree with that. But I don't see a team willing to give anything that significant for a player coming of a season ending injury.

So this would have been ballsier to call at 4:00 yesterday, but I'm feeling more and more like we won't resign Fred Davis. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm just not seeing how we'll be able to afford what he'll command, not when teams like Miami are shelling out ridiculous money for average players. The FA TEs that have signed so far have all gotten some pretty generous contracts...

Depends on whether you want the money on a stinker team, or have a shot to play for a championship. Let's hope he wants the championship.

Got hope/pray that his injury and previous drug issues discount his asking price or at least scare off potential suitors.

The more TE's that sign, and I really haven't heard FD's name out there in the twitterverse, makes me think the reality of injury/suspension risk may keep him here. The Skins are trying to do right, but it's reasonable to test the market. I think the market is telling Fred he is best served staying as a Skin. One thing to believe, is that if he gets a 2-3 year "lowball" deal (not real low, just not top 5 TE stuff) then he will still be in his prime, have the Skins on his side, and we won't be hampered by a cap penalty. In other words, biding his time, betting on himself, and the Skins willingness to pay their own, could be a long term win for both sides. Of course I doubt much of that will go into his decision making.
