Hopefully we'll beat them out for Davis like we did for Griffin. New owner though, so we'll see if he's as shy with the trigger as the last guy.
If Cleveland wants him they will get him, they have a lot of cap freedom and are poised to make some big moves.

Yup. If we lose Fred, its not the worst thing in the world. We had a potent offense without him for much of last year. Given all our other needs, TE is not a position worth breaking the bank for, especially not one coming of a major injury and one mistake away from a 1 year suspension.

We can get buy with paulsen and a cheaper, pass catching TE this year. Next year, we'll have plenty of money to splurge on"non-essential but "nice to have" guys like Davis.

Didn't we win 7 in a row without Fred? I want him, but can't overpay for a TE. Years 3-8 for RG3 is what the Skins should be preparing for. We can get by this year without him. Find some gems in the draft. And what the hell, Niles Paul? Step up!

People are saying that but are we forgetting that we couldn't get a first down for a good portion of the Seattle game? We needed Davis in that game. In order to be a Super Bowl contending type of team ( and not one that is one and done in the playoffs) we simply can't afford to let Davis walk out the door.

I think RG3 playing with a bad knee was why we couldn't pick up first downs, Davis wouldn't have won us that game

RG3's knee was not the only reason we lost to Seattle. In order to beat the better teams, we're going to need playmakers that can get the ball in the end zone. Davis can do that better than Cooley, Paul and Paulsen.

I think it comes down to what cost though. Redskins probably assessed Davis's value and if he wants more than what he is worth and some one else is going to give that to him, than they should let him go.

Basically agree with this. Lunch Pale Logan can be just as effective TE as Davis, albeit in a different way. Logan is bigger/taller and will dominate defenders in the redzone/endzone if he tightens up his routes and continues to improve his hands.
